The endowments aren't spent. The interest is spent. But that's still a LOT of money they can spend. Also, many endowments earmark use of the donation. IE, 'My money must exclusively be spent to fund tuition, room and board for students who can prove they are Cajuns.'

I have an idea.
Maybe they should focus on providing the best education possible so that parents will pay huge sums of money to ensure their children can step out with a diploma that guarantees they’ll have a high paying job in a productive industry?

Pretty sure some guy endowed Georgetown money way back in the day, with the stipulation that it not be used for black students.

The weirdest I've seen is a guy who said it must only go to a black student released from prison after serving time for murder. I don't know if they found one.

I had a buddy of mine that went to Harvard, he said the hardest part by far was getting in….after that, it is like graduate school….where it’s hard to fail out of school.
