A federal judge ordered the Trump administration on Thursday to reinstate more than 1,300 U.S. Department of Education employees.

“The Department must be able to carry out its functions and its obligations,” as well as “other relevant statutes as mandated by Congress,” U.S. District Judge Myong Joun in Boston wrote in the injunction.

The U.S. Department of Education announced a reduction in force on March 11 that would have gutted the agency’s staff by a half.

Former President Jimmy Carter established the current-day U.S. Department of Education in 1979. Since then, the agency has faced other existential threats, with former President Ronald Reagan calling for its end and President Donald Trump, during his first term, attempting to merge it with the Labor Department.

Of course he has.

Who knew that federal jobs were essentially lifetime appointments?

Those fed employees are dug in like ticks. And the judges are bought and paid for.

Move what's left of the Dept of Ed to Minot, ND then. I bet those figs won't relocate.

AND who, exactly determines its functions and obligations? It certainly is NOT the courts...

What are the odds that every judge appointed by the opposing political party finds something "illegal" with Trump's administration?

I'm also ready to extend being born in the U.S. as a requirement for all Federal appointments/elections.

This is how institutions collapse. You have corrupt shill judges make unconstitutional rulings and then nobody respects courts decisions and thing falls down.

Leftists brought this on.

I'm legitimately curious if these judges are able to do this because the departments are carrying out functions EXPLICITLY laid out and funded by congress.

If not then it honestly seems like judges are the actual executive branch.
