If he doesn’t throw his load on Clarice, Lecter never gives her an opportunity, their relationship never materializes, and Catherine Martin is never found.

No...Bill all day. Do you know how hard it is to lift great big fat girls into a van?

"Hey, say, are you about a size 14?"

"Sorry?"

"Good... Oh, good, good."

Don't hear this song often but when I do, it automatically makes me think of Bill tucking his dick and saying "Would you f*ck me? I'd f*ck me."

It plays on our office XM sometimes.. I walk around re-creating the scene for my coworkers but none of them really get it.

If I recall correctly the song in the book was "Cash For Your Trash."

I'm glad they made a change.

Lecter was always going to participate. It’s his only way to escape using his genius. Sitting there rotting away wasn’t doing anything for him.

Do you do the required tuck during your reenactment?

This, and it's easy to see. Without helping Clarise, he never gets out of that brick and plexiglass cage.

Unpopular opinion but I think Ted Levine as Buffalo Bill was infinitely more terrifying than Hopkins. Levine’s portrayal of a transgender serial killer was extremely realistic and not over-the-top. It was realistic enough that the alphabet mafia protested the film when it hit theaters in 91’

That's the first step of method acting.

Ted even admitted getting into that character terrified his own self and had lasting effects.

I disagree. He clearly saw that the FBI was trying to use Clarice as a way to get him to open up about any insight he had into Buffalo Bill, which is why he embarrassed her and sent her packing initially.

Crawford even admitted it was going to be a long shot before she even met with him.

The only reason Lecter was able to escape was because the head of the asylum was a dipshit and left his pen out.

The he goes on to play Capt. Stottlemeyer on "Monk", probably a role most people associate him with outside of "Silence of the Lambs".

Levine should have won an Academy Award for Buffalo Bill instead of Anthony Hopkins. There I said it.

My favorite part about that back and forth between Clarice & BB was her responding with “yeah, she was a big girl sir.”

Yes, he saw through Crawford's attempt to manipulate him, but Lecter took an interest in Clarice that he'd never taken in any of the referenced prior attempts.

And, it was only because of Starling's presence/effect in the hospital that Chilton was in a position to leave a pen out for Lecter to grab. Chilton was too much of a preening, narcissistic opportunist to pass on the opportunity to tease Lecter with the tapes of their sessions.

Agree. Bill was definitely a more realistic character. That made him so much more terrifying

And it still blows my mind that the same guy played Captain Stottlemeyer for all those years in Monk
