We know D1’s goofy asses will drop us to justify where they put us! Can yall imagine if they put the number 1 ranked team in the country out of the top 8 just for losing a meaningless sec tournament game

What that does say is that the top 8 or so are pretty interchangeable and it’s wide open this postseason for anyone to win

king47 crying right now because D1 still has us ranked #1 and he looks like an idiot

We have had a bad few series but this team beat Arky and Tenn which is kinda driving that ranking. Was a pitch or two away from taking the Texas series. Team is good but the offense does go into lulls which has come back to hurt them a few times. Find it interesting that Jay has yet to win 20 SEC games during his tenure. Twice winning 19 in the regular season. Really thought he was going to get 20 this year the way the schedule played out. But again the team is in good shape to be a top 8 National Seed.

Well, one of those things is their opinion of how we've played according to the eye test over the course of the season and relative to other teams.
The other is how they think the committee will judge us based off our metrics, based on past decisions by the committee.
It's their opinion of LSU vs what they think the committees opinion of "paper" LSU.
So, it's not really ridiculous that there is such a variance.

The comments I have read on here regarding this topic has been bewildering. You stated it correctly, D1 Baseball is not the selection committee. Why our other posters can't figure that out is beyond me. The selection committee will not care where D1 baseball ranks the top 8.

Our RPI went from #7 to #8, won a road series in the SEC, went into the weekend in 3rd place in the SEC and finished the season in 3rd place in the SEC. And some of the teams they dropped us behind lost their last series so IMO nonsensical they dropped us to #7. I think we are a #7 seed only if we lose on Friday.
I don’t see us being ranked any lower than #4 as of right now and that’s because I agreed with their #2 overall seed projection last week. Don’t see how they justify what happened in the past week as good enough reason for the committee to want to drop us 5 spots other than throwing out clickbait to the largest college baseball fan base.

Correct, but you’d have to imagine it would put some degree of pressure on the committee to have us in the top 8 if every poll has us as the #1 team.

This is a different argument than what I responded to. You said it was ridiculous that there was such a disparity in their rankings of us vs their projection of our seeding. I told you why it wasn't ridiculous.
This isn't a rebuttal of what I said, it's a completely different argument.

The ridiculousness I referred to is nothing other than us being a borderline top 8 seed regardless of how it came across.
I’m aware a team can be ranked somewhere in the polls and it be possible for them to fall nowhere near the same seed when it comes time to selecting regionals in the national picture.

Baseball America (one of your links) also has this about LSU...

Previous ranking: No. 1
Last week: 2-1
Overall: 42-13, 19-11 in SEC (11-8 vs. Top 25)
Weekend record: 11-3
Results
May 15: @ South Carolina; L 6-5
May 16: @ South Carolina; W 8-2
May 17: @ South Carolina; L 5-2

What say you about vandy having better rpi and same sec record? Ga better rpi?

I agree with what the outlets have been saying the past month or so in their regional projections and the SEC will get 5-6 top 8 seeds. Auburn would be my #6 team from the SEC so they’d be the one to possibly miss out on it if any.

Give me a top 8 and let's sort it out on the field of play

LSU finished tied for 3rd place. Do you think they will be seeded #1? #2? Will LSU be seeded ahead of Vandy who we tied with?
I think the answer to all three questions is no.
Will LSU be seeded ahead of UGA, who we finished 1 game ahead of in SEC standings, but are the #1 RPI team in the nation.

My opinion which I believe holds as much weight to the committee as D1s projections: zero
2 Texas
3 UNC
4 LSU
5 Vanderbilt
6 Georgia
7 Auburn
8 Oregon
