Never flown out of country
Going from New Orleans to Jamaica, connection in Orlando.
So I go thru customs, etc on New Orleans? Have 70 minute layover, hoping do not have to do anything special in Orlando.
Thanks!

Why would you go through customs in Nola on a flight to another US city?
You’ll do customs and immigration in Montego Bay. Then again when arriving back in the US.

Yea no clue that’s why I asked.

I think you will go through customs when you land in Jamaica.

Get Club MoBay! They meet you at the plane, walk you through the custom process, get you through faster with special line, then you get some free food and drinks while you wait for your ride. Can save you over an hour if it’s extremely busy day.
On departure, you get expedited line through security and then get to go to their Club overlooking the runway and all you can eat and drink. It’s 100% worth it.

More important on arrival, or departure?

If you’re arriving in early afternoon during a busy part of the year, arrival is nice because immigration lines can get long. It’s kind of a crap shoot though. Some people say it saved them hours. Others say they saw people from their flight get through immigration in the same amount of time.
Same for departure. If you get to the airport plenty early, it probably isn’t an issue. But having a relatively private place to sit and have food/drinks is nice. Also escort you thorough security, which I’ve heard the MBJ security can be sketchy (stolen items, security shakedowns, etc)

arrival. but I really enjoyed the quick security line and the free food overlooking the runway on the way out. Depends when you get to the airport for departure
Arrival, it is a time insurance policy + free drinks. It is also nice to have someone explain the process to you, if it is your first time. They also wait for you and help with luggage if needed before taking you to the club for your first taste of Jamacain food while you wait for your ride

Sounds great...what is the COST of MoBay ??

You always go through “customs” when you arrive as they scan you and your shite down. When you get to the other country, they ask for your passport and stamp it. You then do the same in your return trip.

Enjoy your trip. Here is how it will go.
Go to New Orleans airport. Get there a bit early because I assume you don’t have clear or pre-check. Check your bag and go through security. You will wait for your flight. You will board and then make it to Orlando. Nothing happens there and you get off the plane and go to your next gate. When you land in Jamaica is when you will go through customs, then grab your bag, then be on your way. 70 minutes is plenty.
On the way back you will go from Jamaica to Orlando. There you will go through customs and then grab you bags. You will recheck your bags (if you are checking them) and then go to your gate. You will want a bit more time to clear here. From there you will land back in New Orleans, grab your bags, and head home.
Enjoy your trip.

Can't believe none of these guys have mentioned this...
Make sure to wear 2 pairs of socks and 3 pairs of underwear, otherwise, you may get selected for the random strip and cavity search when you land in Jamaica. The extra socks and undies help prevent the body scanners from getting a false positive on you -- Jamaica has crazy old tech.
