He never gets talked about here but the big man is still in the game. Maybe it didn’t pan out in the NBA but quite the distinguished career abroad.

As player:
3× BBL champion (1998–2000)
2× German Cup champion (1999, 2004)
Greek Cup champion (2001)
BBL All-Star (2004)
As head coach:
BNXT League champion (2022)
BNXT Dutch Coach of the Year (2022)
DBL champion (2021)
DBL Coach of the Year (2021)

He used to come to the apartment pool on Brightside View with another basketball player (Russian player at the time, can't remember name).

He was kind of a "look at me" person. But, with his size I guess you have to be that kind of person or be miserable.

He gave me some static in line to use the ATM but I told him to step off.

Yes, he was a lot smaller than Geert.

Geert was obnoxious, the Russian was very quiet almost shy.

That's a blast from the past. Had my very last class at LSU with him in summer '94. It was a small, 4000 level management class with about ten people in it. He was a pretty laid back dude.

Was he able to stay upright?

That dude was constantly falling down on the court.

Dale sold him as a 6-8 Serbian Magic Johnson. When he got to campus he was 6-2 and slow.

He was a first-round draft pick.

The Magic took Shaq and Geert in back to back years

Speaking of Ukrainians, I remember when the Ukrainian national team came to the PMAC to play a pre-season exhibition game against LSU.

There was no shot clock then, the Ukes played a very deliberate style. They would pass the ball 10 or 15 times every possession. Boring as hell.

About halfway through the first half the LSU student section started chanting, "Hurry up-ski, hurry up-ski!"
