Fine I'll start another one. What damages are being claimed when reparations are demanded?

If you think about it reparations are really nothing more than money to make up for economic damages. No different than if I sued you for fricking up my business ruining my reputation or damaging my car

So precisely what damages can any modern African-American claim? Remember. You can't claim damage is compared to what somebody not named you experienced. Like if somebody wrecks my car and my car is worth $50,000 I don't get to claim damages as if my car was a Ferrari. The economic damages have to be my economic damages

This was your thread?

Your question is too on point.

I have no idea.

So... start a thread about a subject... that thread gets anchored... in THAT thread, you call the admin who anchored it a "pussy admin" and then proceed to start another thread about the very same thing.

Well I watered it down a bit to maybe avoid the pussy admin who let his thin skin be affected by the other one

In my defense whoever did it is actually a pussy. So there's that. LOL

Honestly, any claim made does not and can not hold one person/race responsible for others actions perpetrated 159 years ago.
Period. The end. It's a ridiculous and outrageous assumption that that defies any sense of justice.

It will never happen. The amount they are bitching for is far too large to ever be possible. Not even worth engaging in conversation with them over. I have zero to do with what happened but you are going to tank it for all of us. Let's be honest, we're not dealing with a smart segment of society.

I’m curious, freed slaves in Texas were given land. Not crappy land, but good farmland.

Did other slave owning states not do the same?

But punished for what? We objectively improved their lives by a wide margin. It's not even debatable. They are objectively a thousand times better off than whoever was standing next to granddaddy that didn't get put on a boat

I paid my reparations. The blacks have been living off my taxes for decades. I want to be repaid if they get reparations.

Reparations aren’t happening. Is there a reason for so much chatter today?

You are not going to be given a reason that can't have a hundred holes poked into it. It's is inherited guilt. Doesn't really need to be inherited. More of a test whether they can put a picture of you next to a slave owner and ask "is their skin color within a few shades? GUILTY"

I come from a long line of frontiersmen and outdoor type; i.e. indentured servants in south Georgia.

Show me the money.

Typically when they argue in favor of reparations they argue by comparing black results to White results. But that makes no sense. If the thing that caused the damage was enslaving your ancestor than the question is how much did that cost you

And the answer is that your objectively a thousand times better off then if your ancestor had never been enslaved.

Some people take that to me that I'm arguing slavery is a good thing but I'm not. Slavery is objectively bad. And for the actual slave you can absolutely argue damages. But not for the current dude. The current dude is a thousand times better off and should be thankful for it

The only somewhat legitimate thing I’ve ever heard is what effectively boils down to missed opportunities. Blacks do not inherit land from ancestors because their ancestors were always behind the 8 ball on owning land anyway, so some of the fruits down the road were never afforded to them (think minerals etc) because all that land was white owned. That’s the only remotely close legitimate argument I’ve ever heard and I still don’t think reparations would remediate it with that community because they can’t be trusted with large sums of money and would just ask for more.
