I mean, congratulations on putting the government in control of your love life, I guess.
They just seem like a colossal waste of time & money, especially since half of them end up in divorce.
People flying across the world for some silly ceremony, it's just so weird.
I've just never understood what's the big deal about getting married, or all of the hoopla around it.

Well it’s been the bedrock of civilization since Adam and Eve.

Has been used for love, transfer and consolidate power, start new families, change lives etc etc.

It has shaped history

But yeah sure. Not a big deal

Weddings used to be a very important part of a healthy society

It was two people making the commitment to each other and to raise a family

yes people fell short of it but the fact that that's what they were trying to do was better than what we have now

You’ll get a hefty level of criticism here with that comment.

I do agree with your point, you just presented it at a low IQ level.

Women get to be a Disney Princess for a day.

Men get to drink and catch up with old friends and family.

I'll take a wedding over a funeral any day. I'm entering the age where I'm going to more funerals than weddings.

Someday, young buck, you should be so lucky to get old and wish for more weddings than funerals.

What constitutes a wedding in your opinion?

Never got the appeal of this. Elope, or have a wedding. Why do both? It's not saving you money. The reception is the part that costs big money. Not the ceremony.

Sure, the party can be casual, but by that logic the reception on your own wedding day can be casual too..

Maybe people should be forced to have a Divorcing Ceremony.
That way all of the people that wasted a nice Saturday to attend their stupid wedding can come to the Divorcing Ceremony and have their gifts/cash returned.

Ahh, ok. You’ll learn at some point that saying ‘no’ isn’t a bad thing.

As they say, "an invitation is not a summons".

There's even a handy 'decline' check box on the RSVP card given to you.
