Guess they just had to wait for Pete to die to keep him from getting the satisfaction. Now of course the Baseball Writers wont admit them anyway, bunch of fricking nerds that couldnt play coach pitch in elementary school.

Rose estate should decline immediately.

The baseball writers will need to flex their moral muscle first just to remind everyone they choose who gets in.

Shoeless Joe best Pelicans player of all time

Who cares now that they’re dead? It’s supposed to be an honor for them, the MLB robbed them of that and are now only sticking their toe in the water to see which way they should move going forward. What an absolutely cowardly and empty move by MLB.

For all the problems people have with how other leagues handle HOF stuff, the BBWA are the most insufferable of them all.

Pete could always fall back on that WWE HOF enshrinement he got.

I love how Pete would always say, "Yeah I bet on our games. Always bet on us to win."

permanently
I guess baseball doesn't understand the meaning of permanent.
This is not a commentary/ opinion regarding Rose/ Jackson.

So what's the reasoning here?

IMO it was previously insane to even ask this question but is the basketball HOF the most honorable of the three major North American sports? We joke because it’s not a strictly NBA HOF but MLB is a disgrace and the NFL has credibility issues with its voters as well.

“Permanent” hasn’t been permanent for years.
How many lifetime bans did Steve Howe get before he finally died?
Didn’t Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, and others get permanently banned at one point for getting money to serve as greeters at casinos?
“Permanent” is pretty much at the discretion of the sitting commissioner. And Pete’s big problem was that no one wanted to under Bart Giamatti’s decree given that he died shortly after it went in place. His deputy, Fay Vincent, sure wasn’t going to and Bud Selig wasn’t going to do it when the owners installed one of their own in the job.

Except for the decades where he said he never bet on his own games.
