I notice #1 & 2.
Summer of '89. Wow, what could have been.
The Connells Something to Say is such a gem. Peak Chappel Hill bands era. The Connells, Flat Duo Jets, Mojo Nixon, Archers of Loaf, Corrosion of Conformity, Ben Folds and Southern Culture on the skids were probably a little after this.

Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique. Pixies Doolittle second. Stone Roses third. I remember buying Lou Reed's New York back then and loving it. Haven't listened to that in quite a while though.

This was the year that I started DJ duties at KNLU while I was at NLU. 1989 introduced me to all of these bands and more. It will never get better.

I'm laughing at #20 on the tracks list
I had no idea Mojo charted with that song.

The top 5 suck.
Full Moon Fever and Steel Wheels were really good.

Well at least they are in order of release date and not how great they are. Cuz Disintegration would be #1 in that case

Absolutely!

Got to see the Connells at The Varsity during the mid-to-late '90s. Tonic (!) opened for them.

One of my underrated favorites from 1989--Maria McKee's debut solo album after Lone Justice.

I graduated high school in 1989, so I agree it was a hell of a year.
Disintegration and Paul's Boutique are way up there. Not too far behind are Freedom by Neil Young, Mother's Milk by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Don't Tell a Soul by the Replacements - all records I listened to a lot over the years.

Another great one from 1989 which seem appropriate today with the Menendez brothers potential Parole
