Can’t wait to hear him say
“And the tigers are heading BACK TO OMAHA!”

I feel like the term walk off has changed over the years. I used to think of it as a game-ending play where there was no real chance for a play, like a home run or a single with a guy on third. Now it seems it is any game-ending play, even if it's a close play at the plate (it wasn't super close, though).

I feel like you misunderstood the term over the years lol.

I've been watching baseball for over 50 years and the terms was generally used for home runs only way back. SO that probably drove my understanding.
And all you kids bastardizing the English language

I’m 42 and I can’t remember a game winning single or sac fly being referred to as a walk off growing up. Only home runs. But who knows. Used to hear catcher referred to as a “hine catcher” too back then and I haven’t heard that in ages lol.
According to Grok:
“A walk-off in baseball is when the home team scores the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning or later, ending the game immediately. It’s called a “walk-off” because the batting team walks off the field as victors. Common scenarios include a game-winning hit (like a single, double, triple, or home run) or a bases-loaded walk, sacrifice fly, or error that allows the winning run to score. The term captures the dramatic moment when the game concludes with the home team’s decisive play.”
I always assumed the origins were due to the winning run being able to walk home from 3rd due to no chance of being thrown out…as in a homerun

I know we can be critical of CB at times, but he’s very damn good at what he does.
Pure class, handles situations with the utmost professionalism. You can hear in his voice that he loves his job and loves LSU. His calls are great for national branding as well. We’re lucky to have him

Good post.
I've got 20+ years on you and it's a 'relatively' new application of the term.

was only a couple inches from being out.
I'd say that's pretty freaking close.

He ain’t no Jim Hawthorne. You could hear the love for LSU in his voice. Chris Blair sounds more scripted. I do think he has come to appreciate LSU more nowadays though.
