If people don't let recency bias or emotions affect them, the answer is clearly Andersen.

What a stupid question. How about the one who didn't put on a fricking falcon jersey. The one who played 7 positions on the football field. All morten did was kick some fricking balls. frick that.

Morten and it isn’t even close. I grew up wanting to be the next Morten Andersen. All we did was kick FGs back then, and I thought it was easy. My dad even built a field goal post in the backyard for me until a hurricane destroyed it. I could have been the next great kicker, but hurricane Juan (maybe) ruined my dreams.

How about the Hall of Famer? A true Saints fan knows the correct answer.

Taysom hasn't even retired yet and they couldn't wait to put his drip in the building. Taysom's electric and unique versatility and willingness to do it all for the organization is like 100 year rare in the NFL. Morten Andersen put up long tenured numbers and did it with our rival. frick that. All he did was kick a ball. Woopy.

Taysom is the most athletic player I have ever seen play for the Saints.

But Morten is literally the greatest kicker in NFL history and is in the Hall of Fame and scored a lot of those points for the Saints.

He was the Saints offensive production in those late 80's and early 90's. The Saints had a killer defense, a kicker that could make anything on the opponents side of the 50 (back when that wasn't the norm in the NFL), and an offense that didn't do much more than put Morten in range and hope the defense would hold on.

People used to wear 7 jerseys at the games. A kickers jersey!

Vinaterri and Tucker. No doubt.

Morten Andersen is 77th all time in the NFL kick FG %.

I applaud your schtick - but the fact you used the word drip, invalidates your point.

I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul

I have never seen someone hate kickers and punters more than you. It's great.

Kicking has changed over the years. In his era which started in 1982 he was widely considered the best kicker in the league and was clutch as hell. Most of the guys on the top FG % list are more modern kickers where strength training, diet, etc. created super kickers who have range out to 60 yards with relative ease. Those guys are a dime a dozen now. In Morten’s era a 52 yard kick was a big deal.

Bottom line is having lived and been a Saints fan since before MA was a pro, he wasn’t just a kicker. He was the best kicking weapon in the sport for nearly 2 decades, spanning 2 long-term tenures with different franchises. Without knowing the numbers it’d be interesting to know how playing for 25 seasons affected his % during the latter part of his career.

Taysom is definitely a Saints HOFer, Morten’s in Canton.

ETA: I seem to remember Morten ran his restaurant in N.O. during the offseason and liked to have a good time. He wasn’t in the greatest shape. In today’s game he could have been booting them through from 70yds. I think his career long was a 67 yarder at Mich St.
