The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is a go.

I'm a little apathetic about this one. What satisfying movie ending could this story possibly have? Plus, the actors are much older now.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. has set a release date of December 2027 for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. The film had previously been delayed from its 2026 release date, but this recent announcement from the studio is sure to leave lifelong LOTR fans jumping for joy.
Unlike The Lord of the Rings trilogy or The Hobbit films, The Hunt for Gollum likely won't be based on a full-scale novel or story from series author J.R.R. Tolkien. Rather, it's more likely to be based more heavily on Tolkien's Appendices throughout The Lord of the Rings books, many of which provide additional information about some of the series' many characters, settings and canonical history.
As the title suggests, the film will act as a prequel to the original LOTR trilogy, specifically following the former Hobbit turned malevolent creature, Gollum (also known by his original name, Sméagol). In the films, Gollum appears as a tragic antagonist pining after the One Ring of Power, crossing paths with Frodo and Sam on their quest to Mount Doom.

No one asked for this (outside of the studio suits)
Tolkien didn't write it. Don't care.
Principle stars (Viggo Mortensen and Ian McKellen) are 25 yrs older now, with Christopher Lee and Ian Holm no longer with us.
Looking at Rings of Power and War of the RoHERrim, this is going to be utter trash.

this will be as bad as the Gollum video game. Warner will make sure they pump it out in time to retain the rights to LOTR though

War of the Rohirrim was solid. sitting at 82% audience score on RT (4.1 out of 5 stars).
I know better than to try to convince SEK anything with a girl in it wasn't just woke non-sense though

I am the overlord to the YouTubers. I've read Tolkien long before YT ever existed. Before many of these folks were alive.

Except, this was. Helm Hammerhand's daughter wasn't even recorded in history. She's of little significance to Rohan's story.
You and your soy fueled male feminists dishonor the names of Ellen Ripley, Sarah Conner, Xena and even freaking Buffy.

Umm....

There's no 'umm..' here. He didn't write the story. He made references to it, not a stand alone book.

I say just do it. It does not matter either way. I will let the nerds watch it first and then if it gets good reviews I will watch. If it does not then will not watch so then back to never existed.

It's based upon the appendices. That he wrote. It's not claiming to be a stand alone book.

This is incorrect. The entire fallout leading to the elimination of the line of the Kings of Rohan was started because of a marriage proposal to her.

Running your mouth about things you know nothing about again? My god dude.

I posted a screenshot of Tolkien's own writing about Helm's daughter and how he insulted the guy asking for her hand in marriage and it caused affront and then they later went to war with.
He said Helm Hammerhand's daughter wasnt recorded in history. Thats just wrong, I even highlighted it for yall where she was recorded in history. FWIW that exact scene was in the movie as well, taken straight from Tolkien's own writing.
