Fellow poster Blue Rabbit makes some really good sourdough and ancient grain loaves. He has a thread ok here somewhere.

Stab to the gut to see this thread and the New Orleans thread right above it. I don't understand why there aren't any French bakeries in Baton Rouge. They'd make a killing.

Best? Tout va Bien, Main Street farmers market on Saturdays.

Non-farmers market? St. Bruno is your best option. Before St. Bruno, most people rated Whole Foods best.

Will give St Bruno’s a try as well as Blue Rabbit suggested.

I hear his is amazing. All sourdough.

The Artist Loft Market 7126 Antioch Road

Saturdays 9:00-5:00

He will be at LaCaretta Friday night for Hot Art/Cool Nights across from Calandros on Government Street.

Think he will have his Vote for Pedro jalapeno cheddar, cranberry walnut, dark chocolate dark cherry, rustic country loaf, and a couple of ancient grains.

He has a website, instagram and Facebook.

Tout va bien is normally at the Electric Depot for this event and downtown on Saturday. He bakes great bread too.

Killing might be a stretch.

But my business plan is to be worth hundreds in the next 3-7 years.

Sourdough is a labor of love because if I tried to get what I actually put into it with adding my labor I would have to charge $50 a loaf.

But I have built it to be self sufficient and even make a profit which makes a retirement gig fun to do.

Come check it out. Or go downtown and support them. Local sourdough is great and has a ton of great benefits.

That would be Wayne's bakery, and if you've eaten a poboy just about anywhere near Baton Rouge in the past 75 years, you've eaten it.

eta: I misunderstood and thought you were talking about a French bread bakery. A French bakery with the pastries and buttery croissants would be welcome.

Whole Foods

The last couple of times I was at Whole Foods, there were gnats flying around in the bread case.

I’ll have over 100 sourdough loaves tomorrow at LaCaretta 6:00-10:00 or whenever I run out. Probably around 8:00.

Jalapeno cheddar, Whole Wheat Rustic , Dark Chocolate Bing Cherry, Cranberry walnut.

And a couple of fresh milled (yesterday) great breads with all the bran left in so packed with nutrition.

One is Scotch Fife hard red wheat with red quinoa and molasses.

One is Scotch Fife with black sesame seeds, dried apricots and molasses. They are good.

I don’t do baguettes often but I’m sure tout va bien will be out there and he makes great baguettes. Think he’s down either Electric Depot of maybe in the by French Truck Coffee.

Black chocolate cherry about to hit the refrigerator for slow overnight fermentation.

Cranberry Walnut batch going to a client tonight.

Good. Introduce yourself. I’ll give you a buy one get one free.

If it rains out I’ll be at my regular Saturday market at The Artists Loft 7126 Antioch Road 9:00-5:00. I’ll be there anyway as I have bread for it too but if it rains tomorrow night I’ll probably have a Mother’s Day sale since I’ll have a lot extra.

Hope not. I really like that Government Street market. Crowded and a good time.

Well it’s not a market per se. It’s the Hot Art/ Cool Nights that Mid City Merchants put on in Spring. They have one in fall too. Starts at Jefferson Highway and goes down Government to Electric Depot. I set up in the LaCaretta’s parking lot across from Calandros. Lot of pop ups on both sides and the shuttle stops right in front. I’ll be there probably dancing around the weather unless it’s real bad.

And I’ll also be at The Artist Loft Market tomorrow on Antioch. Indoor cool little market. Great pizza guy and great Thai food along with my bread and Next Chapter Coffee which has amazing coffee beans.

Chocolate dark cherry in the oven now.

Jalapeno cheddar Irish batch breads just came out.
