and 8 generations back every horse has 256 direct ancestors (or at least they have the possibility of that many)
8 back would be 6 years a generation, may only be 6 or 7 but it will get there soon enough

This year marks 52 years since Big Red won the Triple Crown. He still owns the track record at the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont.
