Steak and Ale was a PepsiCo company along with Bennigan's. It was pretty good, but a bit pricey for the time.
I liked it and would be happy to see either or both return.
I barely remember Bonanza.

Bonanza Sirloin Pit on Fla Blvd in big BR, good memories from the Sixties for me.

Every now and then I’ll crave a RR roast beef sandwich. They had the fixins bar where you could add au juis to your roast beef . Metairie had one on Veterans Memorial in the 70’s

I thought I read somewhere that steak and ale was attempting a comeback. Back in the 70s if we went out to eat it was one of three places…Piccadilly, Ralph and Kacoos or steak and ale. Dad used to give us sips of his beer from those cold pewter glasses LOL
steak and ale was high living back then

Roy Rogers gets my vote. Had it in Maryland a few years back and it was as good as ever.

The prime rib and French onion soup were on point.

When my wife and I were young and newly married we thought Steak and Ale was the shite. We were living high on the hog dining there. It was our special go to place. The Kensington Club - loved it. Perfect every time.
I would love to go back.

Yep.
The Roy Rogers was on Vets between Transcontinental and Clearview next to Popeyes (theres a Taco Bell there now).
The Bonanza was on Clearview and Vets next to Shoe Town across from Clearview Mall. I think theres a storage place there now.

I always get Bonanza, Sizzler and Western Sizzler confused - the food was the same at those places and the one in Ellic we went to when I was a kid went from being a Bonanza to a Sizzler (or vice versa)
I have fond memories of the hamburgers at Bonanza/Sizzler. They were chargrilled. Red Robin had a burger that tasted pretty similar- I would get one every couple of months.

Bonanza
frick...Less than $3 for a 8 oz steak, baked potato, and texas toast.
I barely remember this place. Something about the plates that they served everything always stuck out. They were like, wood, with a silvery / metal lining?

Yep
And didn't they put all these little plastic things on your tray to indicate your steak, how you wanted it cooked, the sides? Like you would get a yellow marker if you wanted a t-bone and it had a 2 if you wanted it medium. But if you got a burger, you would get a green marker

My buddy and I took our 7th. grade girlfriends to Bonanza before a dance. Big spenders. It was where the Wendy’s on Lake Street is now.
