That is a dumb law. That is an issue between a husband and wife, not whoever they had an affair with.

It’s ancient. Most states have done away with it.

Didn't Smith come out on social media and brag about it? If he did then he deserves this.. That's a big FAFO...

So still is the wife's fault. Unless he forced her, she chose to be with him

Dude made $81 million just on the field. I’m hoping 100k is nothing to him.

I’m guessing his wife already knew he was a cheater.

You think it affects only the spouse?

It affects the entire family…particularly kids.

But frankly, the third wheel owes him nothing. If anything, he did the husband a favor by exposing his wife. The wife in this case should pay dearly for her betrayal of fidelity to her spouse. I’d totally support sticking it to her in the divorce proceedings.

The person who participated in the affair very much involved himself in the relationship. He’s not necessarily entitled to a “hit it and quit it” free pass.
But yeah, that kind of lawsuit presents a pretty slippery slope.

Are you a female? If not, you have the tendencies, I expect a female to say something like this.

I disagree. Everything else in a divorce is handled by the courts - dividing assets, custody of the kids, etc. So why not this?

It can be argued, and I agree that marriage and family is the backbone of society, and it is necessary in raising emotionally healthy children. Infidelity and divorce in general affect the kids and society as a whole. Any person who knowingly contributes to the breaking up of a family, putting emotional distress on an innocent spouse (husband or wife) and children by having an affair with a known married person, should face some civil consequences.
