I love our team but man if we had Herring as our Saturday guy and Dutton as our Sunday guy.

Should have paid that man.

Looks like he's added a nasty cutter. And baseball history has shown what guys with nasty cutters can do in the Majors. The slider was already excellent.
He might not have elite velocity, but he has plenty to go along with his stuff to make it in any role in the big leagues. Wish we still had him, but I hope he continues to do well.

Most overrated measurement. Greg Maddux couldn't throw 90

He could. Just knew he was better with his stuff if he didn't. Maddux was a surgeon.

Herring, Yes. Dutton, absolutely not. He would have remained the same player had he stayed, and im still not sure I would chose this Sammy Dutton over Eyanson.

One of my favorite tigers ever man.

Can we talk about the camera angle of this footage? Can we petition to get this angle as the standard for baseball viewing?

Yes. He sat 91/92 and could pump it up to 94 when he needed during his most elite stretch.

What?

Indeed. And a surgeon with higher velocity is much much more difficult to hit than a surgeon with lesser velocity. And he could control his fastball at 92 just as easily as he could when it dipped down to 87/88 later in his career. Hell, I think he was closer 85/86 at the very end with Padres. And he was still relatively effective, but closer to an average MLB starter.
Which both helps your point of him being a surgeon, but hurts your point of him for whatever reason not using his velocity early in his career when he was one of the best pitchers who ever lived.

He's given up just 2 ER and 17 hits in 30.0 IP
He'll be AA very shortly

ummm he threw 96-97 coming out of HS dumbass and has talked about that is the only reason he got a shot in the bigs. Just because he learned he didnt need to doesnt mean he couldnt.
and if its so over rated then why does batting average against go down as velo goes up?
using maddox as an example of anything makes you look like a retard
1) maddox could throw 95+ early in his career
2) if it was so easy to just be greg maddox and get 2'+ of movement than how come we havent had any since?
3) the strikezone he got was line to line and would never be called today
yall act like anyone can just pitch like maddox, yet there has only been one of them. and Maddox, Smoltz, etc have talked about how they would have had to throw harder to play in todays game or they would get lit up.
you sound stupid, dont post anymore

I'd take Eyanson over Dutton

Dude is just so smooth in his approach.

No wonder he always got ticked about the calls for repeated fastballs

Dudes who say this are the same as people who think Babe Ruth was always fat or old players weren't jacked.
