No they didnt. They’re including sponsors/NIL deals in that total - Arch Manning, for example

Quarterback Arch Manning is “by far the highest-paid Texas player,” as expected, but doesn’t take a dime from the school. He and his family acquired all his deals on their own “with no help from the school.”

Is this a pre-excuse if Brian Kelly doesn't make the playoffs this season?

Seemed to work for McMahon

Seems like they’re also arbitrarily including the full $20.5M from revenue sharing that hasn’t been approved yet, so actually spending about $10-15M probably

Maybe not now but this is coming soon. Hopefully NIL will crash and burn. Its making college football a bit less likable year by year. It’s sad that it is coming to this.

Well it doesn’t really matter where the money comes, it’s still a draw to their program. It’s going to be difficult to compete with teams who can buy whoever they want.

It's so interesting that as soon as it became legal to buy players, UT became a good program.
What a damn coincidence!

While UT isn't "spending" all that money, I think its fair to say "UT + UT boosters" are spending that much money. If you want to compare how much money a team/coach has access to, in my opinion you have to consider booster money as well.

Totaling what the players make =/= what Texas is paying.
Especially for someone like Arch, thats like including what Patrick Mahomes makes from State Farm or LeBron makes from Nike in the teams Salary Cap.

Remember when a booster buying a recruit a burger was a major violation. 0 to millions in the blink of an eye. I don’t think this was ever the intent of paying players.

Did you not read what the guy you replied to was saying? He said Arch's NIL deals were worked out independent of whether he was at UT or not, by his family via their connections. Not by inducing UT alumni to pay for a player. In other words, Arch was getting that money regardless of where he attended school.

Difference is Mahomes in actually being paid for his name, likeness and image. He is very elite proven recognized NFL player. 99% of college players are not paid for their NIL, their just being paid for coming to the boosters school. Think about it this way, if Mahomes or LeBron had gone to another team would State Farm or Nike drop them, No. if the QB recruit that went to Michigan for 12 million decided to transfer to another school would his NIL deal end, yes.

I bet their most recent recruiting class was $20m alone.

Who do you think has a better chance to make the playoffs. The Dodgers and Yankees ire the Rays and Marlins. Payroll matters

Huge difference when you say what the team is making vs what the school is paying
Staples said Ohio State players made 50m last year from both. I bet many teams are over 30m combined

This is some nothing more than some bullshite from the Texas PR side to get their named mentioned as spring football has wrapped up.
Same shite with Arch and Sark not going to do the NCCA cover. Texas is the biggest PR machine for themselves.
It's just to get people to talk about Texas.

So you're saying UT was following the rules? And continues to follow the rules?
