Cable News Network Ratings- First Quarter 2025
Posted on 4/29/25 at 8:29 pm

I heard this on the radio today and had to fact check this online.
Of the top 15 highest rated (viewership) shows on cable news, 14 are on Fox and one is on MSNBC.
CNN has literally zero.
The list I found online only shows the top 15, but the radio guy I heard earlier said they don't crack the top 25. CNN's #1 rated show (whatever that is) does not even crack the top 25 in their own category of cable news.
CNN, literally invented cable news, and does not have a single cable news show that cracks the 25 with really only two main competitors.
This blows my fricking mind.
Yeah yeah left wing right wing blah blah, that's certainly a factor, but CNN's downfall is astonishing to me. It's insane.
If anyone has the full top 25 list, please share. This is the top 15 I was able to google.

Just from a business perspective, it's always been weird to me how many of the TV news stations broke liberal, CNN included. 81% of adults aged 65 and older have a cable or satellite TV subscription, while only 34% of adults aged 18-29 do. Older people tend to be more conservative, so why would you intentionally choose the opposite side if your goal is higher ratings? At least be neutral.

I agree. It is fricking crazy. I truly believe that 24/7 cable news, opportunists who have weaponized it, and the people who can’t turn it off are destroying our country.

They abandoned journalistic integrity and the truth totally in summer of 2017 and it’s been a race to the bottom since then.

CNN is probably the most neutral cable news station we have, which is why both sides hate it and no one watches it.

You would have a wall of txt if you listed all the dishonest headlines and reporting from CNN in the last 8 years.

USAID is going to be the explanations as to why weird non-ratings based decisions were made over the last two decades in entertainment.

Hey, I didn’t say they were worth a shite. I said that they try harder to appear neutral than any of the other ones.

Jake Tapper literally did a backflip on Joe Biden’s mental decline. He berated Laura Trump for suggesting Biden had mental decline on air.
Dude then wrote a book about Biden mental decline. CNN is clown world.

I believe it's because the rich old people who runs these networks get so caught up in their political derangement that they feel it's a moral obligation to produce content of a certain slant even it's contrary to what people are openly telling them they want.

I think people on the left and the right are craving a plain old news station that just reads the damn news. There was an earthquake in some country today. The pope just died. Coup is underway in this obscure country. Five dead whales washed up on this other obscure country's shore. A new study shows cinnamon can cure some random medical affliction.
I think millions of people could veg out to that, instead of the panels of partisans all yelling at each other.
CNN, now at rock bottom, should consider this.

CNN viewers sample news.
FOX viewers leave it on almost 24-7.
It's two entirely different audiences. It's why Air America didn't work. Liberals want occasional reinforcement, right-wingers want it non-stop.

This strategy is what got Fox News to the top. They started reporting g what they knew their viewers wanted to hear instead of facts or truth. It was a good strategy because look at them now. Pretty much the only 24 hour news network anyone watches.

It's amazing this many people watch that trash show and her constant lying.
