i was in chuys a couple days ago (subtle alcoholic fatty brag) and was watching the waitress scurrying around the tables near us with dishes piled up using a nasty-arse rag that i'm assuming was dipped in a mop sink w/ some bleach or maybe just dirty water and i could literally see spots on the table she missed.

the plane thread got me to thinking about how much we 'trust' the cleaning crews. i admit i was shocked to find out that even nice hotels usually just pull the comforter off the bed and swap the sheets but put that GOD KNOWS WHAT WENT DOWN comforter right back on top.

think about that the next time you fly in to vegas and plop down on the bed with your laptop to decompress that there was probably some trans midgets having sex with animals on that comforter the night before.

I don't worry about such things because I am not a germophobe.

If you're sleeping beneath the sheet like a normal person, you will be fine. I'm not aware of any comforter-induced plagues that have occurred.

Just carry some Lysol wipes in your bag, silly. I certainly wouldn't want to cover the entire seat every time I have to go throughout my stay.

Never trust anything in a hotel room, including the coffee pot.

I wipe a lot of the hotel room down with Clorox wipes because of my concerns. The comforter usually goes to the floor.

In college I had to take a sample from the public water fountain and grow the culture on a Petri dish. There was all kind of nasty stuff including E. coli.

I’ve never once thought about any of this nonsense and it’s been years since I’ve been sick enough to not go about my normal day.

The world just really isn’t that dangerous or dirty.
