We are moving to a golf course community in about three days. I might be looking to purchase a golf cart for zipping to the club and whatnot. Any suggestions, pros/cons, experiences, etc. from the gallery?

How many seats do you need?

Can you use it on the course? Or will you have to use a club cart once you get to the course?

Got a buddy of mine have an Evolution Golf cart. Damn thing is sweet, it’s kinda lifted with wheels and tires along with a touch screen for Bluetooth and other stuff. It was a bit pricey.

I've had both an electric and gas Club Car Precedent. Currently have the gas version. I had to figure out how to tighten up the throttle spring to get it to go faster.

Couple residents at our course have the Evolutions that have been mentioned. These look nice but I don't know anything about them.

My neighbors either have Club Cars or Yamahas.

There is a subreddit for golf cart owners. I researched a bit a while back and the consensus seemed to be to avoid chinese carts (like evolution) like the plague. They are prone to problems and cannot easily be repaired by anyone. A slightly older Club Car or EZGo was the consensus pick, with Yamaha behind them. And go with the 48V is you plan to carry 3 or more people regularly unless you want to creep. I recommend checking the golf cart subreddit.

Not saying the redditors are wrong but I have an evolution 3 row, as do several other golf and neighbor buddies. All love it with no problems. My one buddy bought an old Yamaha and is already blown a fuse and had some other issues. Find a reputable dealer and make sure you give the evolution types a look. Think they're worth the deal.

My understanding was that was the problem - there is little in the way of servicing dealers, but many sellers. Part availability was also an issue. I have a couple buddies with them also and they are certainly very cool machines. Very reasonably priced for the features. I didn't end up purchasing but am interested to follow the topic as these things become more common.

I think Club Car is the best but Yamaha and EZ-GO are both really solid options as well. Evolution has really been growing in popularity but they are made very cheaply and it's difficult to find parts for them.

The common denominator with the Evolution cart owners is I've noticed is that they're all are "rigged". As in something breaks, they can't get a replacement part, so they have to do some baw engineering.

I have an Evolution Classic 2 with a 180Ahr battery, and I like it, but I am looking to add an Evolution D5 with a 205Ahr battery. That is a 4-seater that is really taking off in our community. I have about a 70 mile range after 4.5 years of use. My house to Southern Oaks is 43 miles round trip, so I need all the battery life I can get.

My father-in-law has the Evolution Classic 4 Plus. He uses it every day to play golf and ride around the neighborhood. It's 6-7 years old now and he's put more than 5k miles on it.

Still runs fine and has had no mechanical issues. Had the seats replaced a year ago, but that's it.

Evolution is coming out with a new "D-Max" line this summer, thing looks sharp and has tons on stock features.

Looked at some carts yesterday. The Atlas with a 210Ahr battery is very nice, and Evolution is coming out with a new 2-seat version named Tara. It has a 205Ahr option. Range on both is around 90 miles. The Atlas comes out of South Carolina and has a solid frame and great ride. The Tara is a big upgrade over previous Evolution products and is quite a bit less expensive. It will have all of the nice features that are on the Max.
