Just recently finished getting everything together for my new hunting setup. Picked up the new Weatherby Mark V Backcountry Guide rifle 7mm prc. Added a Silencerco Scythe-Ti suppressor to it along with a Leupold VX 5HD 3-15X44 CDS ZL2 scope to it. Sighted the scope. You can drive nails with it (I’ve only shot it at 100 yards but will be hitting the range in the near future to push it out.

Weighs less then 8 1/2 pounds. Pic below.

Nice gun. Take it out to Roaming Shot in Slaughter and stretch it out to 1000 yards.

Are the suppressors legal to use while hunting in all states ?

And I assume they don't have any effect on accuracy since snipers use them.

Great rifle! What ammo do you plan to run through it?

I got a 7PRC for my elk hunt last year and got a nice 5x5 at 507 yards with a 180gr Berger hybrid. I would recommend the 180gr VLD or 195gr EOL. While the hybrid did its job, I like how the VLD Hunters perform on previous elk kills over the hybrid. Good luck and I hope you bag a good one!

Most but not all. They're becoming common.

Using Nosler 7mm PRC 175gr AccuBond Long Range Trophy Grade Ammunition. I’ll pick up some of the ammo you recommended and give it a try as well. And I agree with the previous post on suppressors. Most states but certainly where I’m hunting.

Legal in Colorado. For now. No telling what the moon bats will try to take next.

Arguably more accurate with how the silencer effects the gases as the bullet exits the barrel

Nice. I love the 7mm PRC for long range shooting and hunting elk.

I just got a new Weatherby Model 307 in that caliber and am working on finalizing the other items. I’m looking hard at the Banish 30 for a can and a Leupold VX-6 3x18. I’ve used that scope before and like it a lot. It’s less than ideal for really long shots (like a mile) because it runs out of elevation adjustment and I end up holding over, but its primary job is killing Bulls.

I need to finalize the can and glass so I can work up some loads. Last 7PRC I shot really liked the Hornady 175g eLDX bullets and I’m hoping this one does too. I just have to find the right powder charge. My last one was really good grouping at a muzzle velocity of 2,900 fps.

Looked at both the banish and the meateater but ended up going with the Scythe-Ti.

That’s the Model 307 I got. Steve was doing a deal with Weatherby for the 307 and Scheels had just a few left since Steve’s new deal is with a different manufacturer.

I couldn’t pass up a normally $1,300 rifle for $725.

Look for a 20 moa picatinny rail to put on it and see if that will help.

This rifle has that mounted on it. It’s still likely to be a stretch because of the chosen reticle more than anything else.

Using a hunting rifle for long range shooting is always a trade off.
