How likely is the no tax on overtime thing to come to fruition in your opinion?

I'm thinking it probably doesn't happen
I'm a salaried employee at the moment and got an offer that is hourly. With the OT it would be roughly the same gross but obviously if there is no tax on OT that might factor into my decision

I’ve never liked the idea of it. I get why he said it but it was pandering for votes at its core and we all know it.

90% likely
When would it go into effect if it passes the senate?

You should find out next month.

I'll probably take the offer since it's in a lower cost of living area anyway
The no tax on OT would just sweeten the pot

Because it requires an act of congress, I wouldn't make any career changes hoping for it to pass.

Why hourly over salary? Just for the OT and OT alone?

Other than that, would be a good move for you personally? If not, I wouldn't do it just for a few bucks extra.
Also, are you already working over as a salaried employee?
If I'm salaried, I'm never working OT unless there's an emergency.
If you're not married and have no kids, then OT isn't so bad especially if you need the money to get yourself out of debt, save for a home down payment or something similar that significantly betters your life but otherwise, I wouldn't consider it.

You’re going to move to take an hourly job from salary that pays less? Idk if that’s smart, even if a lower cost of living. What do you do? How far of a move is it? Do you currently rent or own?

No, no tax on overtime is not yet happening at the federal level. While President Trump has proposed a tax-free overtime plan, the House of Representatives did pass a budget resolution with a provision to exempt overtime pay from federal income tax, this budget resolution is still pending and needs to be reconciled with a separate Senate budget before it can be enacted into law
Funny thing is I can see the more libertarian type republicans that vote no on everything to not want to pass this.

It has been over a month since the House passed a budget bill with no tax on overtime, but nothing can be done with the bill yet.
The House narrowly passed its spending bill on Feb. 25, more than a month ago. President Donald Trump endorsed the agenda because it combined many of his campaign promises into one bill.
The House voted 217-215 in February to advance Trump's legislative plan, with budget levels for 2026 through 2034. All Democrats and one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., voted against the budget plan.

I’m on overtime right now. It sounded when he said it that he was taking care of the blue collar workers building americas manufacturing, power, and other industrial plant as per his agenda. The it doesn’t come true, how likely will those voters vote again Republican or switch? Most people I know believed it would happen.

Complicates the tax code even more. When the economy becomes better, more people in the technology field will want to go more hourly and demand it. That will imo foul up productivity. They will do less in more hours. Human nature.

Yes we have a standard 50 hour work week with the possibility of having to work Saturdays at some point with no extra income

Well, I wouldn't vote for a democrat because they all voted against it.

Let's not reduce taxes because we already have a complicated tax code.
Sounds like a great plan.

0.000000000000000000000001% chance that it happens.

You are thinking correctly.

No. It actually pays more. It's just not a significant amount more.
I have a traveling gig right now so it wouldn't require me to move. The job opportunity is at "home" so to speak
