QB Anthony Richardson or CB Devon Witherspoon (Seattle)

QB Kenny Pickett or CB Trent McDuffie (Chiefs)

I assume everyone would say Witherspoon or McDuffie since they are pro bowl level players and the other two are wasted picks.
What do they have in common? Richardson was picked one pick before Witherspoon bc the Colts HAD to have a QB. Even one that was clearly not a franchise QB.
Pickett was picked one pick before McDuffie because the Steelers HAD to have a QB. Almost everyone said it was a weak QB draft but Steelers drafted Pickett over McDuffie anyway.
If we draft a QB in the first, i think it’s a high likelihood to be like these situations. If we take a developmental prospect in the 2nd ( without trading up), then so be it. I just don’t want to wander in the wilderness longer bc we picked a QB bc we HAD to.

a bullet to the head if I have to watch my team take the field with Richardson or Pickett at QB.

Mahomes or Lattimore?

It can work both ways. Not saying I want a QB but a few guys being flops doesn't mean its always a bad idea to draft a QB.

I don’t want us picking a qb in this draft. None are first round talents. With that being said your theory here is flawed.

Would you rather have Mahomes or Lattimore? Mahomes was picked one spot before Lattimore.

This is the year the Saints add a QB in the 3rd or 4th round as a lottery ticket.

Someone like a Milroe, Ewers, McCord.

If they work out great, if not you're not heavily invested and can try again in 2026.

Anyone you're drafting you should not be expecting to walk in and be the #1 guy from day one. Push Rattler and/or a FA addition and see if you can find a dimond in the rough.

I get your point and thought of that when I posted this. The difference is that Mahomes was considered more highly than any of the QB’s in this draft. He was considered a 1st round QB by lots of teams ( not early first round but a legitimate first round QB).
The QB’s in this draft are regarded more like Richardson and Pickett. They are propped up bc ESPN wants/needs QB’sdrafted in the first.

Mahomes fell to 9. I realize he has turned into the GOAT ( or at least the best of the current time) but he couldn't have been all that highly thought of by NFL teams or he would have been drafted top 3.

If Rattler starts majority of games, Saints will be picking in Top 5 in 2026.

That's quite the proclamation...

But you have no way of knowing how Rattler will fair in his second year and also playing in a new system.

Leaving aside the fact that in the games he played in last season, the losses were in no way his sole doing. The team handed to a 5th round rookie to helm was a complete disaster personally wise, and cohesively wise as a result of weak and very poor coaching/coaching level leadership.

Wouldn't be extremely out of the ordinary...Seems like we've done this pretty frequently. I guess one day they'll learn, or one day they'll get lucky.

Year Rnd Player Pick Pos

2024 5 Spencer Rattler 150 QB
2023 4 Jake Haener 127 QB
2021 4 Ian Book 133 QB
2020 7 Tommy Stevens 240 QB
2015 3 Garrett Grayson 75 QB
2010 7 Sean Canfield 239 QB

This is what it's all about. Unless they're unfortunate enough to be picking in the top 3 one day.

I pity any rookie qb who plays for the Saints this season…

the reality is if somebody like Carr played and started every game then maybe the Saints best is 7or 8 wins.

Vegas has the Saints at 5.5

Carr doesn't even want to play for the Saints. This is truly the shits unless KM and his staff start spinning gold.

I'm optimistic up to a point but it's tough.

this team hasn't gotten back over a hump that they thought was so possible back when Loomis handed the keys to DA. Or did he? Was DA just a Yes man? I hope that KM is not the DA version reborn but just as an offensive minded head coach.

You need someone who can drop the hammer. I like that Moore was a former QB but can he lead? That's the biggest question. I hope so!
