Pretty eye-opening interview. Makes you feel for all involved, especially Lacy. Poor kid was destroyed on social media

I watched this last night. It was the first I heard that Kyren was wrongfully arrested. I really would like to know more about this case.
And then on a complete side note, I saw that the dude who stabbed the high schooler the other day (Karmelo Anthony) was released on $250,000 bail while Kyren was released on $151,000 bail for something his lawyer stated he had nothing to do with. There really wasn't any proof that Kyren caused the wreck.

He got into an argument with his sister, shot a gun into the ground, ran away from the cops and killed himself months after getting a man killed by driving recklessly months after he cost his team a win by pretending to shoot an opposing player with a shotgun.
It wasn't the social media that did Kyren Lacy in.

It’s a Tragedy. Life is hard especially if you’re a college star. That being said… Just because his lawyer that represents him and his family says it isn’t true doesn’t mean it’s truth. I’m not saying he’s lying either.

Interesting. He’s obviously biased as he should be as Lacy was his client, but he seems pretty certain the criminal aspect of this was going to be over soon.
Also interesting that there’s a civil suit against another driver in the accident.

The world we live in today. Nobody teaches people to take accountability anymore.

Reality and facts are hard to accept in tragic situations however they are what they are. Again, it's just a terrible situation every bit of this that went down but they did so b/c of the decisions by one person.

I mean if Lacy's lawyer said he is innocent, then the glove don't fit

Wow I really have TONS of sympathy for Lacy because people said mean things to him on social media. You know what they say, it’s impossible to delete your account or just ignore social media. Once you sign up for Facebook or instagram, you can never get rid of it.
I mean seriously OP?? I’m supposed to have sympathy for someone who killed a man needlessly and then drove off because people were mean to him on social media?

So we know some things for sure:
A vehicle swerved across the centerline into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle headline causing a fatality.
Lacy didn’t hit either car.
The allegation is that Lacy tried to pass entered the other lane and then swerved back into his lane and this caused the oncoming vehicle to swerve and into oncoming traffic and cause the accident
But if you were on a 2 lane highway and a car entered your lane the wrong way, most people are swerving towards the shoulder not oncoming traffic

Social media is a societal cancer. I might not agree with much else, but I agree with that.

Well if that is the facts of the matter, then Lacy caused the wreck. You can't blame somebody for dodging a car in it's lane and panicking and swerving left instead of right. So negligent homicide would have probably stuck. Just because "he didn't hit the car" doesn't take away the fact if he drives normal that person is alive.

How do you figure that he was wrongfully arrested? Bc his attorney says so?? The prosecution says otherwise.

Except for witness testimony that he was passing cars at a high rate of speed prior to the wreck? The truck that swerved right to avoid him oncoming head on? The Kia car that swerved left to avoid him oncoming and the truck in front of him? Those people lived fool.
How do you think they tracked him down? police just targeted him for no good reason. Nah bud, people gave descriptions of him/his vehicle and then they used traffic cameras to identify him.

I'm curious if there was a big dip near the shoulder which would make swerving out just as dangerous
Posted on 4/16/25 at 1:53 pm to Rtowntiger
Last time I checked if you avoid an accident and then get in an accident/damage your vehicle then it's your fault. I thought same logic applies to this.
It still is sad no matter what

the lawyer says Lacey saw the accident in front of him...
so that piece of information would suggest he couldn't have caused teh accident
now what i want to know is why was Lacey arrested?
someone explain it

It was his mother. He doesn't have a sister in Houston. He has younger brothers by his mom's 2nd marriage.
Someone posted elsewhere and I didn't copy the link that HPD was called for a mental health issue. Something similar was posted on here but I am not reposting what was said.
Please do some digging and try to separate the truth from the BS.
None of you naysayers know how police work. They can charge a person with anything they want to and arrest for same. It is up to the DA to review the evidence and decide whether or not to accept the charges. In a case where it's a well known figure or high profile case, the DA defers to the Grand Jury. This is what happened in KL's case.
Kyren Lacy by all accounts was a good guy. Other than the BS shotgun penalty in LV, never had issues except impulse control mentioned by CBK and he had worked on that. I read that he had wanted to throw the Ole Miss TD ball in the stands and told himself "don't get a penalty".
I have never read anything that he got into trouble off the field like other former players have.
His mom has 2 degrees. His dad is a personal trainer. I think his mom's 2nd husband (now divorced) may be an attorney. He came from a good family who loved him as did his former coaches and teammates. He was always smiling. Always joking.
Until the arrest and public lynching because a retired marine died.
Then he wasn't.
My point: everyone has different levels of tolerance for life's events. He cried when he accepted scholly at ULL. He cried when his penalty cost Malik a TD that would have broken a record. Probably has cried many other times. It seems that he wasn't a wuss but a very sensitive young man who allowed the mob mentality to get the better of him.
Do you know that for the first time today since the accident, there was a Lacy story on the news that showed his LSU head shot and not his mugshot?
I blame media and social media for a lot of what happened. I would never get on a website and harass his family by calling him names and a murderer.
Not one person is perfect or sin free and need to get off their judgmental self-righteous high horses.
Who wouldn't have caved under the pressure?
