MLF Invitational being held there. Pro Flint Davis was involved in the wreck.
No details other than that. MLF live coverage stopped broadcasting after the incident and cancelled today.

BREAKING: Two fatalities have been confirmed in the boat crash on Smith Lake. The crash involved an MLF fisherman being blinded by the fog, and driving into a professional guide boat.

Man that sucks, nothing scarier than trying to navigate thru fog whether on water or land.

MFL might be in a world of trouble if they turned boats loose in dangerous foggy conditions. Tournament organizers have error on the side of caution now a days, I have two very good friends that nearly bought the farm by running right into the side of a barge crossing the Mississippi in a Redfish Elite several years back. They noticed the wake at the last second and turned, boat slid right up against the barge while turning, scared the living shite out of both of them. Being in fog and hearing boats running around you can't see is about as bad as it gets on the water.

would like to know how fast the boat that hit the guides boat was running.
I don't understand how you run a boat on plane (if that is the case) when you can't see what's in front of you.
If you have radar that's one thing, but not a single bass boat out there has that.

As fast as it would go most likely

Running boat in fog without radar is one of the most dangerous things you can do on a boat IMO. Especially in high traffic areas.
Tons of duck boats do that on MS river (Venice) during duck season and it blows my mind
Even with Radar and AIS it’s still by no means a relaxing experience

Nothing potentially gained from doing it justifies the risks. Technology is amazing but you have to balance it with common sense

I really hope its inaccurate but local media now saying 3 fatalities.

I read somewhere that said the guide was pretty bad off, don’t know if he would be 2nd or 3rd fatality of that incident.

Really sucks that people had to die because of stupidity. Someone at MLF should lose their heads over this.
Money. Money. Money.
I bet there will be a knee jerk reaction. Usually takes someone dying to change. Some judge will make it illegal for the public to be on the lake when a MLF tournament is going on.
Money talks and BS walks.

Im just going to say that everyone should wait and see what happened. Looking at that guys boat, it looks like it was hit from behind.
I also am seeing where 3 have died now. The identity of 2 of them are being withheld until they can clear it with the families

There is so much AI fake news out there it is sickening.
That being said local news has released names of all 3 and is reporting all 3 were on a center console that was hit by the Bass boat in the tournament.

Damn. Both ends destroyed. I guess if he went over them, the motor hit and came off which also bent up his power poles. Looking at the back, it looked like he was rear ended.
