If you were to poll Americans on how many have heard of Louisiana cities, what would it be

Here's my guess:
New Orleans: 100%
Baton Rouge: 75%
Shreveport: 65% (surprisingly when I go to other parts of country, people have heard of it)
Lafayette: 38% (reason why is there are several Lafayette's in the US)
Lake Charles: 30%
Houma: 20%
Alexandria & Monroe: 14%
Ruston: 12% (just because LA Tech)
New Orleans: 100%
Baton Rouge: 75%
Shreveport: 65% (surprisingly when I go to other parts of country, people have heard of it)
Lafayette: 38% (reason why is there are several Lafayette's in the US)
Lake Charles: 30%
Houma: 20%
Alexandria & Monroe: 14%
Ruston: 12% (just because LA Tech)

Lake Charles and Houma too high IMO. It's a big country.

I don't even think 20% of people in Mississippi know about Houma...when you start talking about people in Cali, New York, etc. I doubt even 5% of Americans know about any cities in Louisiana except the top 5.

No one outside this region has heard of Houma
Monroe is better known

You’d actually be surprised by the amount of out of state residents that know Morgan City due to O&G from several decades ago

On a side note: I love it when I call tech support and they ask if I live in L.A. when they see La. in my address.

Now do position in the public consciousness.
If not for this board, I would never think about Laffy or LC, unless I was driving through them to TX
I would only think of Shreveport when reading about the LA Hayride show.
Not intended as putdowns, simply as facts.

I think most of the country heard of Lake Charles after Hurricane Laura and six weeks later, Delta rip through the area causing major damage.

Monroe too low… believe it or not a good bit of the Black people you run into California (particularly LA and Oakland) families originally from that area… same thing in Chicago
