With the news of Carr, I think the Saints next steps should be clear:
1. Plan to start Rattler
2. Sign Carson Wentz or CJ Bethard as a veteran backup
3. Draft a developmental QB in round 4 or so

Under no circumstance do you draft a developmental QB in the 1st round (Sanders).

This is way too logical to have happen.

Or tank and go 0-17. Make sure you get the 1st pick next year. Hopefully trade out of it for multiple 1st round picks then build your O-line and D-line. Then draft your franchise qb in 2 years.

We are thinking the same. By starting Rattler, we will tank. Not 0-17 but definitely not more than 4.

Agreed, the focus of this draft should be to build around a future QB. The entire team is lacking legitimate NFL starting talent. None of the QB’s have a chance with this group on Offense, and it would essentially waste a year of their rookie contract.

Starting Rattler or Haener isn't necessarily a tank (or at least, is arguably not a tank) - especially if the Saints devote actual resources to improving the offense (LG, WR, 2nd/GL RB).

If you want to get the fans fired up (and potentially stay around), you need to grab a positive force; someone the fans can see and get excited for the future.

I'm not sure Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart are that sort of player. This would be the 9th QB the Saints have drafted since Loomis took over as GM; which of them have had a modicum of success? Would this be a difference or more of the same?

Haener isn't even an NFL quality back up. At least with Rattler there's talent there, he's not afraid & he will battle out on the field. Haener shite his pants stepping on the field last season.

But he'd be 3rd QB up and then no one could complain that the Saints were tanking on purpose.

Also, what QB would get anyone excited this year or in the future? The Saints might as well focus on a stopgap and use #9 overall to grab someone to excite the fanbase and build towards the future.

Right. Play Rattler. Haener shouldn't see the field again barring injury.

Yes. There's absolutely nothing wrong with going that approach & I think at this point, many fans feel the same.

Dude if you get 1.1 and there is a potential franchise qb there 32/32 teams would take them if they need a qb. It’s up to us to draft well this year and make more welcoming for next years guy.

Yeah you don’t have to intentionally try to suck. Go in fully intending to win with rattler. Either he’s a find under Moore and you have a player or you then get your guy because the NFL is hard and he can’t hack it.

Which one of this list was the Pro Bowler?
J.T. O'Sullivan
Adrian McPherson
Sean Canfield
Garrett Grayson
Tommy Stevens
Ian Book
Jake Haener
Spencer Rattler

Or were you referring to Marc Bulger? He was drafted under Randy Mueller.

I think you might get a kings ransom for the first pick next year from someone wanting to draft Manning.

I would take manning 10/10x. If you don’t have the qb it doesn’t really matter.

Loomis fell arse-backward into Brees when the Dolphins wouldn’t pass him on the physical. Otherwise, his GM record would look like he’d been working for the Browns all these years. He’s a joke and his continued employment shows Gayle Benson is a joke.

Agreed. To approach the season in advance as an impossible situation is an insult to fans. Most fans aren’t message board owners or GMs

He lucked into Brees and he lucked into Payton who has admitted he really wanted the GB job and would’ve taken it.
