Bluff Road Patch Job

This has to be the worst patch job I have ever encountered. It was a much smoother ride before the 'repair;
I can understand a little bump where you enter and leave the patch, but there is a long stretch where the patch itself is uneven.

I have been hoping someone would start this thread or the conversation would come up somewhere on here...
It's so freaking bad. There's a patch going toward Geismar/Dutchtown right after Bluff Middle that is absolutely horrendous. I have started avoiding Bluff on my morning commute as a result.

I have seen people drive in the left lane just to avoid that stretch. Very dangerous

I slow down to about 30 mph any time I'm going over it, but it can definitely be dangerous with people behind you.

I'm sure it is just the first step before the widening and road improvements.

These are just patches in the bad spots. When all of the patches are done they will come back with at least 2 lifts of asphalt over the entire road.

Was just coming here to say this. I asked about it recently & the patching was the first part of the job.

Is it possible that maybe they fixed the soft spots in the road, and the next step will be to grind and prep the road to over lay it? Or maybe not...

DOTD has screwed up many roads in this state. Repairs are few and far between. Construction projects move at a snails pace, construction designs reach obsolescence the minute the shovels hit the ground.
Time to burn that fricker to the ground and start a new agency. Some say money is the issue costs have risen while tax revenue has remained flat as it hasn’t kept up with inflation and based on the continued decline in use of gasoline.
Might be time to increase gas taxes. One idea that I have floated on here is regional gas taxes for certain corridors like US 90.
Pass a 10 cent per gallon tax and 2-5 cent per kilowatt tax at EV charging stations in each parish in the US 90/futureI49 corridor to fund the building of I49 between Lafayette and New Orleans.

That bridge over the interstate - Feels like my shocks are going through the hood every time I drive over.

DOTD
The patchwork is step one. Not sure when they’ll get to the rest.

I live at the north end of Bluff in the neighborhood behind the church, so I drive it regularly. When I drove it a few weeks ago for the first time after the work was done, I couldn't help but laugh to myself as I was tossed around the inside of my truck while I bounced over the horrible patch jobs. Probably the worst I've ever experienced. I texted the wife and told her to not take Bluff in her car under any circumstances.

At least the attempt to patch shite in the AP. EBR is in a race to beat NO in the worst pothole competition.

Why didn’t you start a thread? Just how weak are you? You’re the type of person that conveniently disappears when work is to be done, right? Or the ever popular someone ought to do something about this. My favorite is you know what would be nice?
