re: Home NAS, Immich photos, Plex, Torrents, etc (help)

I don't have any experience with TrueNAS, so I won't crap on it. What I do know is that I've been running my Unraid server for over 3 years now without any issues with the OS. Performance has never been an issue as it's always performed as expected with the hardware I have. Yes, it costs money, but you can get started with as little as $50 to see if you like it.
I would recommend doing a little research on Unraid vs TrueNAS (I think these are your 2 best options) to see which would work best for your current needs, as well as how you think you'll upgrade/expand your storage over the life of the server.

A lot of this is going to depend on your budget. If you're willing to spend a little money I would look at building an Unraid server. If you'd like me to help walk you through the process let me know and I can get you my contact info.
I'm currently running a 92TB Unraid server that I built and setup myself using mostly reddit and youtube videos. It doesn't really require any coding, unlike some of the other Linux based options out there. I currently use it as a Plex/Jellyfin server with all movie and TV downloads automated and a website for all of my friends/family that I share access with to easily request new content. I also use it for Nextcloud (a self-hosted OneDrive/Dropbox alternative) and Bitwarden (a self-hosted password manager). I'm not big into photos, so I just use the Nextcloud storage for that, but I know I could self-host Immich or similar programs if I wanted.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Matt Walsh does a pretty good job of explaining the difference for those that are a little slow.
Pre-Cut Jambalaya Meat Source?
Posted by BlakeB123 on 4/25/25 at 10:57 am
Does anyone know where to get pre-cut chicken, pork and sausage for large jambalaya cooks in, or near, Ascension Parish? I just spoke to Rouses and they said they don't do that, though they did when it was LeBlanc's.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Looking for Lost/Severance Type Shows
Posted by BlakeB123 on 4/13/25 at 2:01 pm
I'm looking for more shows like Lost and Severance. Shows in which you never truly feel like you know fully what is going on, where details are explained during the entire run. I like shows that make you pay attention to every detail, including set pieces, for clues. Shows with an internal mythology (Darma, Lumon, etc.) are a plus. I'm not opposed to any particular genre (sci-fi, fantasy, animated, etc.).
Any suggestions?

Can't believe no one's mentioned this one:
These are just patches in the bad spots. When all of the patches are done they will come back with at least 2 lifts of asphalt over the entire road.

You ever watched some of those leagues? I was in Slidell for work one weekend and caught a tournament. They have some ball players out there.
Thanks for the info, Larry.

I'd be more pissed about the a-hole in the F150 with his hitch sticking out into the middle of the sidewalk.

This is a pretty good explanation of what you are looking for and the differences in each type.

It looks like you have to put ice packs in it. In order to cool a space, the heat has to go somewhere, which is why both window and floor units have to have an exhaust. If you are OK with swapping out ice packs then knock yourself out.

He says Melville in the video.
Have fun with your spyware. It's pretty well known that these off-brand Android TV boxes usually come packed with lots of sketchy software. Even LTT did a video on it.

You should always stick with a known brand (Google, Amazon, nVidia, Roku, etc.). While they are not perfect, they are at least upfront that they sell your data. Also, the software that comes on these off-brand boxes (Kodi, etc.) that somehow warrants a +100% upcharge on the hardware can usually be installed by you with a simple YT video. I worked at BB for a summer back in 2016 for the discount, and every morning we'd have guys come in and buy a Firestick (we only allowed 1 per person) and they'd go home and spend 10 minutes installing free software by following a simple video and put it on eBay or CL or FB for double or triple what they paid for it.

Need Snake ID. Found by Dog
Posted by BlakeB123 on 11/7/23 at 4:35 pm
My dog found this snake between a tree line and a pond. He got pretty close to it, but I don't think it bit him. Does anyone know what kind it is? I'd like to know if I should be worried in case it did bite him. Thanks.

Michael Scott tried, but I guess it never caught on.
