How can this be during spring activities and so late in the process?
This just seems weird

Absolutely HATE what has been done to college football to the cheers of the Mike Wilbons and Tony Kornheisers that didn't like the sport to begin with

Contract?? Jumping the gun on rev share

He should play like a superstar if he wants to act like one.
Just a really frustrating player. He has legitimately made some of the best throws I've seen a Tennessee QB ever make, but is just wildly inconsistent.

think he's still in that indecisive era that a QB goes through, you can tell by the moments of indecision and slow processing that he went through in games
you either improve on that or you don't

seems like his original contract was enough

NCAA has basically said outside of playing for the same school twice in 1 season, there’s no real guardrails for transfers outside of eligibility limits
Also admitted the portal has nothing really to do with the process outside of being a way to track who is in the portal, players don’t actually need to go into the portal to transfer

This shite absolutely sucks. In normal times I'd make fun of Tennessee but this isn't just bad for them. This is bad for college football.

college football, everyone! Isn't this wonderful!?

If contracts prevent the constant transferring then I’m for it. Asking to renegotiate every offseason isn’t good business though

Pay me my money or “ Iamaleaving”

How many more offseasons are we going to get of this shite before it dawns on the right people that changes are warranted?

college football died in 2020. I don't know why you people still pay attention to it.

Because spring portal opens next week

I have a business partner who has a close relative who currently plays college baseball at a major conf. school. He's at a new school this year after playing at different major conf school last year.
At the end of last season the kid was happy where he was and wasn't really looking to transfer. However, some of his friends on the team transferred to a new school and just ahead of the portal deadline those friends reached out to the kid and said the HC of the new school wanted the kid to transfer there too, along with what he could expect to be paid. It was more than he was being paid at his current school. The kid (though his father) reached out to a rep for the boosters at the new school and negations began.
The kid and his father hired a lawyer to advise in the negations, said they were naive as to the whole NIL landscape and quickly negations suddenly arose. The lawyer told them this was nothing compared to football and basketball where the players are in the coach's office trying to renegotiate their deals "every week" in the middle of the season.
These aren't "employment" contracts and players are becoming more and more accustomed to how much leverage they now have over schools/coaches.

The right people know that. It's just not clear how the "changes" can be legally implemented.
The schools can't legally "cap" NIL and the players hold most of the leverage now. They aren't going to agree to any sort of "salary caps, or the like. The schools also can't legally pay football and basketball players a market value "salary".
So my question to you is, what legal changes are you suggesting occur?
