But the wish is not the shooting star / meteors themselves. The shooting star / meteor is the signal to make a wish...at least that's how I always saw it.

I made a hole in one on a par 3 hole one day. When I pulled my ball out of the hole a genie popped out and granted me a wish. I, of course asked to be extremely well hung. I wake up the next morning and holy shite, it was down to my ankles, almost sticking out of my jeans. Wearing shorts was impossible. I had to rectify this situation, it was just too much. I went back to the golf course with a 5 gallon bucket of balls, all day trying to get another hole in one. Finally, just before dark I succeed. I pull the ball out of the hole and sure enough the genie pops out, granting me a wish. Out of breath and very thankful, I said, "I need you to make me taller."
