China Threatens to Retaliate Against Trump’s Latest Tariff Warning

China is threatening to retaliate further against the U.S. if President Trump carries out his threat to raise the tariff on Chinese goods by an additional 50%.
A statement from the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday said that if the U.S. escalates tariffs, “China will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests.” Previously China announced a blanket 34% tariff on American goods, matching the level of Trump’s April 2 tariff on Chinese imports.
“The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake, which once again exposes the U.S.’s blackmail nature,” the commerce ministry statement said. “If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.”

WWIII as an economic trade war is an interesting 2025 we’ve started. Let’s hope we can weather the next few months or years because they’re going to get worse before they get better. And it’s going to crush some people. Not that I disagree with what’s happening, it’s just that war is hell and our culture as a whole is a diseased, soft, fragile, pathetic excuse for a society. Trump is playing a hell of a poker game.

Or go to a kinetic war. If we go to, say, 100% - they would do it.

What makes me nervous is how extreme some of these governments are willing to go, we here in America will change course because of public sentiment. A communist country will willingly starve ten of millions before they even consider it a problem.

I don’t see how this is smart on China’s behalf, they are much more dependent on selling stuff to us than we are to them. So bring it.

Trump’s got China’s panties in a wad with these tariffs, but I’d rather bang a cheap Chinese TV than let some pencil-neck tax my whiskey to death …keep the deals coming Donnie!!!!

So China will wage war because we won’t buy their shite then expect other countries to do business with them in an apocalyptic time?
