Why are shoes made in America only $20 more expensive than shoes made in Asia?

Take into account the U.S. doesn’t have the same infrastructure as China to mass produce these shoes which also factors a price increase.
Made in USA
Made in China

Made in USA

Made in China

Making clothes in America will be unaffordable except Walmart already does it

People don't like common sense remarks on this topic. Many have been brainwashed to think you have to make things elsewhere.

Premium shoes with top quality materials are $20 more expensive than cheap Chinese crap

Slanted point of view.

Bad comparison. That's a high price for most New Balances. Air Jordans are more because they're more of a status/"brand".

Those New Balance shoes are made from much better quality than the Chinese shoe. The U.S. doesn’t also have mass production like China does to reduce the cost.
I also showed the Walmart example

Do people pay 200 dollars for shoes? That is crazy even after all the inflation.
Costco sells brand name shite under 40

Yes it’s extremely common not everyone likes to look like a slob.

Those aren’t even the most expensive nikes.

If
You want high quality leather shoes, yes.

Say it all together "TO MAXIMIZE SHAREHOLDER VALUE"

Did the price of Fords go down when they started making them in Mexico?
If a company knows they can sell something for $200, and they move manufacturing to a country with no minimum wage or environmental laws, why would they lower the price?

2 things:
1. Chinese labor costs have exploded with their economy
2. Companies are making significantly more profit selling those Jordans for $180 than for those NB basic shoes for $200

I can't even imagine calling a pair of Nike tennis shoes "high quality leather".

I meant, you can normally get New Balance for $45-65. Most NBs are not $200 like these made in the US ones.

Can you imagine learning how to read? The poster I was replying to asked if people pay $200 for shoes, I absolutely pay more than that, but the shoes I buy are high quality leather shoes. My comment had nothing to do with Nike shoes.

Wouldn’t this make more sense if you compared identical products?

Most New Balance that people wear are $200+. They're a status brand now as much as Jordans.
