It’s a start, long way to go though to be in the top half of the SEC and make the tournament. I just can’t see it happening.

8 points 5 rebounds and 4 turnovers against us in the SEC tourney. Should fit right in with CMM's schemeless approach

Looks like a worse version of Chest. Still early, but this one doesn't move the needle for me. Hope I'm wrong.

Feels like a Matt McMahon type of portal get

He was a starter for MSU. Has SEC size and athleticism, but the numbers don't exactly jump off the page other than some shot blocking. He only averaged 15 mpg (lowest among the regular starters). The rebounding numbers were decent, but he couldn't stay on the floor because of foul trouble. Also, I'm not quite sure how he would fit with Reed given how McMahon wants to play because he's no outside threat whatsoever.

It's not an awful thing to get a guy with major conf. experience (SEC and ACC). He'll be able to add some "bulk" inside. But when the HC and the legion of excuse makers have poo-pooed the last 3 years of results as simply a byproduct of not being able to buy elite prospects, this doesn't exactly move the needle as he's not an "elite" prospect.

Is this our third player that has spent time at Miss State?

By most coaches standards Nwoko is a depth piece. I hope LSU/NIL is not offering starter money. As it stands right now Nwoko is the 2nd guy coming off the bench if he's playing well. If not, he's the 4th guy coming off the bench.

You’re right about not moving the needle (very few do), but he’s a slight upgrade over Chest

Yes.

It appears LSU has become Mississippi State's dumping ground. Particularly considering McMahon is 0-5 vs. MSU with an average margin of defeat of 18 points

Yep we can't freak out yet. If he is the best we get, then we are in deep crap. If he is here to back up Reed and rotate with Collins, if he stays, then fine. Issue is we don't know the background. Is he a cheaper Chest or did we overpay. Lots of ifs on judging this pickup

Defensively I would agree. Imo Chest can offer a bit more on the offensive side with his face up game

I'm not so sure about that

Per 40 minutes Chest had more rebounds, blocks, and a higher FG%. Nwoko had more PPG, but he also attempted to 4 more FGs per game than Chest. Chest is the more explosive athlete. The one thing place you can give the edge to Nwoko is height at 6'10
