Second to last next to Mississippi. Surprisingly California is at the bottom too. It would explain some of the posters’ responses and unnecessary downvotes (I’m guessing that’s their only way of attacking you. Lol)

Gotta say certain Louisiana posters remind us of the people from the movie “Idiocracy” where they think you’re wrong no matter what and regardless of source - downvotes on this will prove my point. Lol

It's interesting to note that Louisiana ranks second to last, right beside Mississippi, while surprisingly, California sits at the very bottom. This ranking may offer some insight into the responses and perhaps the downvotes I've observed. Certain posters from Louisiana evoke a sense of the characters in the movie "Idiocracy," who seem to dismiss information regardless of its validity or source. I suspect that any downvotes this comment receives might further illustrate this particular tendency.

Intelligence is overrated. People put to much emphasis on it. Making them believe that they are better than others despite any real world results. I would rather be of average Intelligence with a great work ethic over someone who is content with just believing that they are superior over others because of how they did on a test. Intelligence is only worth a lick if you know how to utilize it.

You have to wonder, when you see the worst on the list, what drags these places down?

Agree with all of this, but you need people that want to overcome limitations.

What contributes to Louisiana ranking low?

I would think that there are multiple factors. Louisiana ranks low on academics. Not enough emphasis on education. Brain drain. Young adults leaving the state for greener pastures after graduating college. Health factors. Louisiana has a very high BMI compared to other states. Not eating healthy.

It's not so bad if you're not on the low end. You get to feel smarter than you are.

To the extent general application of IQ stereotyping, whether it be gender-based, race-based, or geographically based implies immutability, I'm not a fan at all.

However, the OP result cites no sources, no methods, no testing type consistency, no foundational basis .... nothing. It appears Low IQ itself.

Demographics

Huge factor.

Roughly a dozen years ago, I read a report summarizing test scores between Wisconsin and Mississippi for 4th, 8th, and 12th graders.

Wisconsin had higher scores at each level. However, when the scores were broken down by race, Mississippi white students were the equal of Wisconsin white students.
