"Pump" - as in giving someone a ride home on the handlebars of your bike

North LA friend used a term I've never heard of. If you were bikeless and needed a ride from a friend who did have a bike, the friend would offer to "pump" you there. Meaning you could ride on the handlebars while the other person pedaled.
Checked with N La folk - all know the term
S LA folk - none know the term
what say you?

I’m sure if you ask an Aggie his meaning of pump means something completely different.

We used that term in my neighborhood in Lafayette back in the 70’s … man, I haven’t heard that term since.

I’m from North Louisiana and we said this all the time growing up. Didn’t realize that wasn’t a thing in South Louisiana. Crazy.

We called it “hop on my handle bars” or “give me a ride home on your handle bars.”

Shreveport area, knew the term from even back in the 80s
I use to be so damn good on a bike, wheelies, no hands, had several different tricks.

I grew up in Zachary in the 80’s and that’s exactly what we called it when you had a bike and somebody needed a ride, they sat on your handlebars
