Gonna be hot as balls in June though

Sources tell WDSU the LIV League is working on committing to New Orleans on a multiyear contract, possible ensuring tournaments are played in the city for 3 years.
The first could be played as soon as June 2026.
Sources say, as part of the potential deal the state of Louisiana is working on allocating public money to upgrade the championship course at City Park and attached facilities in and effort to bring this major sporting event to New Orleans.
WDSU has learned the amount of money committed to this project is in the low 7-figures. Under $5 million dollars. But LIV is also expected to fund some of the renovations needed at Bayou Oaks.

Didn't they spend 25 million on the course after the hurricane?

While I’m excited to go see a major tourney in the heart of Nola. I played that course last week and thankfully I only had to pay $55. It was not in good shape at all.

What a wildly boring course for professional golfers

Hell yea.
Do it in honor of the old East and West.
They deserve it.

Still am in the camp that there’s no way this happens.

How can you have a pro tournament there?
You can hit the ball anywhere off the tee and be fine.

Yea if you’re a 20 handicap. These guys aren’t spraying it across fairways.

When there is no trouble off the tee you don’t think that is helpful to pros?
City park is not a realistic course for pro golfers

I think there’s bunkers in play for the pros, but I don’t think it matters that much the way most these guys hit driver now.
Courses have to defend themselves around the greens.

The toughest courses for the pros are those that make the approach shot hard if you are wild off the tee
There is no defense to tee shots at city park. They will blow the doors off that place.
Not too mention it’s just an extremely boring course

Well yea these guys blow the doors off US Open courses. Of course they’re going to carve up a public course.

Agree to disagree here, I’ve always enjoyed playing bayou oaks.
I guess I’m curious where else in the NOLA metro you’d consider suitable? English Turn is the only option I can think of, but bayou oaks will get a lot more foot traffic.

There isn’t a suitable course in the Nola area besides TPC (which for obvious reasons is off limit for LIV)

If LIV hosts a tournament in Louisiana, it should be at University Club in Baton Rouge - it’s one of the few courses that can challenge the players due to its length, green complexes and overall setup.
