NBA scraps all-star tournament after one year

How bout play top East vs West players. No picking BS. And get rid of circus music acts. Have skills contest for G League at halftime. Just announce starters like normal maybe use players pick of song.

None of this will ever be fixed or improved until the calendar changes. The All Star weekend is way too late in the season, but they refuse to actually put it at the midway point because that's the middle of the NFL playoffs. Guys use the break to actually rest and don't try because it's right before the home stretch of the regular season.
Start the season around Thanksgiving, put the all star game in early March before March Madness and have the season last until July.
I also don't think format matters at all. East-West, captains, none of it will work. the only thing that'll work to make the game more competitive is putting more money on the line for the winning team
If Silver refuses to do this with the calendar then it's almost a certainty that the next media deal is going to be worth less than the one they just signed

It won't get fixed because the players don't give a shite. When you fully guarantee someone $60M in one year, they have no incentive to try. This shows every day in the NBA.
