Sorry if done before. My memory gets worse by the day.

I did not know until yesterday that MIA's Paper Planes used this,

There is a playlist on Spotify that has all of the songs sampled on Paul's Boutique that is really cool. Also, several websites have the list like this one.

I once bought a random old record and to my surprise it contained the whistle that was sampled at the beginning of Devil’s Haircut.

Eric B and Rakim's paid in full sampled this Unc and Auntie drunk at the korake classic.

2-pac and Z-ro used it as well

Dennis Edwards snorted an 8ball before filming this

Another one for Beck.

Basically the entire melody for Jackass.

I'd never heard this cover until a few months ago and was like....oh wow. It's instantly recognizable when it kicks in.

There is a show on LL Cool J's Rock the Bells channel on Sirius/XM called Salute the Sample that plays and talks about samples and airs on Thursday. Cool show.

Cannot tell for sure but this sounds like the Sex Pistols version of Roadrunner.

What? She basically takes a direct rip of the ENTIRE melody.

That's like saying "I didn't know Dr. Dre and Snoop Sampled Leon Haywood in Nothing but a G thang...."

ETA: Combat Rock was the 2nd CD bought after buying my first CD player at radio shack....

The Zeppelin samples on License to ill are as follows:

When the Levee Breaks - Rhymin and Stealin'
The Ocean in She's Crafty
Custard Pie in Time to Get Ill

Other notable classic rock samples on the same album.
Rhymin' and Stealin' - Black Sabbath Sweet leaf

Slow Ride - War - Low Rider

Time to get ill - Barry White - I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby

And the melody for Brass Monkey is basically a rip off of this one...

The break in that one comes from this one.

The Soul Searchers - Ashley's Roachclip

But my Favorite Eric B and Rakim Sample on that one is Pass the Peas in I ain't no joke. But I'm a sucker for James Brown tunes...
Original - The JB's Pass the Peas

I've spent a long time trying to find where the samples in my favorite songs come from. As I mentioned before, James Brown is probably the most sampled artist. But Bob james is in the conversation as well.

Back in the late 80s I wrote, and demoed on my TASCAM Portastudio, a song called "Junior's Auto Sales".

Wish I could find that tape...

The most blatant sampling ever . . .

Also, this site is very useful: Sample Library
