Is getting hammered on social media. I think it’s directed more toward FFS but the kid is only playing within the rules. Would he have won without it? He wouldn’t have finished in the top 30 IMO.

Anyone could see this reaction from miles away…from the TV screen I was watching, as I was staring at it all day, watching people fish on TV, on a screen..

Apparently people are salty that the kid was using livescope.

Blame BASS for not banning FFS, not the kid for using something that provides an advantage and is allowed by rules.

So people watching bass fishermen catch bass on a TV screen are mad that fisherman catch bass using a TV screen?

These dudes fish high school, and then college and then the Elites. By the time they get to the Elites, they have that LiveScope thing down pat. Now as a senior, I got LiveScope and crappie down pat. But I'm not good at scoping bass.

I hate FFS and the like as much as any decent logical sportsman. But if the rules to the competition allow it, then people criticizing him are just dumb.

Seems to be a lot of folks who are claiming if the kid hadn’t used FFS he wouldn’t have been in the top 30.

I'm sure the kid is really concerned about what some 50 and 60 year old weekend warriors are saying about him on social media. If it makes it so easy Brian, go do it yourself and become a Bassmaster Champion. I've never understood sportsmen bashing other sportsmen for not doing it the way they think is correct. The kid played within the rules and won, congratulate him. He's laughing all the way to the bank anyway.

Certainly Easton is not at fault here. He was not doing anything that was not allowed. The debate is really about FFS and how it has changed the art of fishing into a video game. Obviously most of the names on the leaderboard were young anglers with no real history in the sport. The big question is this really fair chase and will it kill of tournament fishing. Last year I fished the big bass splash on Rayburn and Toledo. Almost no one was beating the banks. Everyone was offshore with their heads down. I was just donating money as I don't have it yet.

You could become an instant millionaire

I've heard them say that only about 10% of the fish they see bite.

Not my place to say if it's right or wrong but it has hurt the sponsors of the sport and bait/reel/rod sales.

Same for me at Eufaula this weekend. There are some lakes where we fish just for points. We know we will lose before the tourney even starts.

This is like refusing to play college players but getting upset when you don’t win. It’s well within the rules currently, it seems ridiculous to get upset with anyone that is well within the rules. Get upset with the tournament and bassmasters if anything.

I couldn’t care less about the “is it fishing” argument, if they all have access to the same tech then it’s a level playing field, and it does take some skill to use.

My issue is it just isn’t entertaining to watch. What has always made competitive bass fishing at least somewhat compelling is the idea that these guys show up and read a lake better than you do, so you want to watch how they break it down. Sure they’ve always had a lot of sponsored gear and many are probably being fed scouting reports, but there was always at least the illusion that you could catch that same fish if you knew what you were doing. Now, it feels like they’re operating an F1 racecar and I’d be showing up to the race with a Camry.

I guess they idea was they would sell electronics like they did reels and baits, but I got too many other hobbies to sink that kind of coin into it, so it just pushes me away from the sport.

BASS is a joke of an organization compared to what it used to be!

A competitor can’t get info from Billy Bob at the launch who just has diarrhea of the mouth and doesn’t know better but will allow you to use a screen that shows you where the fish actually is.
