Thinking seriously about getting a second opinion with my prostate cancer treatment protocol. Suggestions?

Yes, get a second opinion. Maybe a 3rd opinion as well.

Praying for you my friend.

Alton O Sartor. He was at Tulane until about a year or two ago. Now he is at Mayo Clinic …not sure where you are located? But he is world- renowned. He has extended the life of a LOT of men with PC

I am guessing that it isn't feasible for you to travel to Rochester, MN but maybe not? He has deep ties to LA and knows doctors all over the state. At a minimum I would recommend contacting him to get a recommendation of an oncologist that he trusts nearby you.

There are also full-service Mayo Clinic locations in Scottsdale, AZ and Jacksonville, FL. I can't speak for the FL location but the oncology program at the Scottsdale location is very highly-regarded.

MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Great place for a second (or first opinion).

Enter your information here and should get a call back within 1 business day.

I will put this out for the OP and anyone who is facing the prospect of prostate cancer.

A couple of years ago, my PSAs shot up sky-high. I get kidney stones and they will sometimes trigger UTIs. I had a nasty round of epididymitis, gave me a good scare.

Urologist wanted to do a biopsy of my prostate. After a couple of extra PSA tests and the ole finger test, Doc wanted to be sure.
He took 12 core samples, sent them off to the lab, and thankfully, no cancer was found.

Regardless, someone recommended this book by Dr Mark Scholz, a prostate oncologist.

Sun Country has direct flights into Minneapolis, where you can rent a car or get a shuttle into Rochester. You can also get a connecting flight into Rochester (RST) via a few different airlines.

Let me know if you have any questions about Rochester. I can throw a rock and hit the hospital from my backyard.

I second going to MD Anderson. My dad has been seen by Dr. Frank for years. Very knowledgeable and really cares about his patients.

Dr.Andrew McCall in BR did my dad’s a surgery a few years ago, they picked him even after visiting MD Anderson. Really good Dr, very personable and knowledgeable.
