Yeah it’s a Ponzi scheme that’s almost bankrupt of course it’s gonna end. In fact this entire government is going to collapse completely

I hope so. It is such a rip off & scam. If you invest that same amount of money over time in an avg S&P index fund you would be looking at easily $15/20K per month or more vs $3K w/ social secuity.

Not without a certain % of the population forfeiting their benefits.

regardless of what happens, it will always exist as a social welfare program.

No , at least not for the millions that have already paid into it for many years ; maybe in the future it will be different.

I actually have had an idea on SS for about 20 years that I think would be fantastic but unfortunately, the left would fear monger it do death even though in my view, it would be a net gain for literally everyone who receives SS. Alas, it would remove a whole lot of govt control and voter manipulation leverage.

It would have to be gradual by age. Each generation pays less into with lower benefits....i.e., whatever is not deducted from your check better be privately invested. GW Bush suggested a 4% per year transition in this idea and it was shot down by the Dems who said "He wants to starve elderly people!'
So, the math can be done. But the political backlash is poison.

Yes, it could end if there's no money or no chance at having the money but I hope it doesn't.

Government won't want to give up the ability to borrow from the "Trust Fund" at bargain basement rates!

I'd love to see Trump push through a Chilean type system.

Unless your plan allowed the government to keep forcing employed Americans to lend it money under its terms, AND have Americans believe it to be a "retirement plan," it won't just be Dems fear mongering it. A ton of GOPe's will chime in.

That's not the gradual plan. Old people are not effected. Future old people are effected.
