For those who understand pitching, could Yeskie be the problem?

Is Yeskie lacking in the ability to diagnose and fix mechanics where it's lacking? I imagine pitching is like the golf swing - you can be hitting the ball flush for a month and suddenly develop flaws that often takes a teacher (or at least another set of eyes) to correct.

Does Yeskie have a good reputation for developing pitchers? Or, is pitching like paiinting? You either got it or you don't.

Yeskie was long considered one of, if not the best, pitching coaches in the country.

People question his pitch calling, but I'm not sure how much of it is that vs. just missing spots. He calls for perfection too much I think, that's why you see us deeper in counts. Would not hate a little bit more measured, defense first approach with some of these guys. Sometimes, like in Shores' case, the balls just find grass.

I’d like to see more high fastballs in 2 strike counts to set up the breaking stuff.

Every 2 strike count is 2 or 3 wipeout breaking pitches it seems. If I can see that the opponents definitely can.

It isn’t Yeskie. Command is repetition and max effort and command are rarely seen together. They are throwers and not pitchers. Anderson is a pitcher as is Cowan. The kid yesterday is a pitcher but he struggled at times also.

Probably that and just no continuity.

Guys who pitched last year:

Anderson- our best starter
Primeaux- bad but still a lot better than last year, ideally not a guy we go to this much.
Guidry- hasn’t pitched

If he doesn’t get the staff straightened out he should be fired. Too many good arms wasting away

We have a solid young staff to the SEC. They will grow up and do fine in the back end and that staff will be lights out next yr as many will return.

Yeskie is fine imo

Wes Johnson is better. Thatcher Hurd regressed last year under Yeskie.

I don't know. But I do know that these star HS pitchers are great until they come to LSU, then they can't throw quality pitches for strikes. They may have good stuff, but if they can't throw strikes, it is useless.
There are exceptions, but overall it appears that LSU is lacking something in the pitching staff.

This board wanted to fire Wes Johnson for the majority of the 2023 season, and a lot of that was because of Hurd's struggles.

Yeskies last aggy team was horrendous. Over 5 era walked everyone and Slchoss fired him.

His staffs have been high walk rate and a ton of pitches here so far.

My guess is he might be washed at this point.
