I feel like there are many naive basketball fans on this board . I worked with someone coaching an AAU team in the 90’s. The amount of strong arse offers he would tell me about in recruiting was mind blowing. He said the blue bloods were the worse. He said virtually everbody did it. This was 30 years ago.

Yep. I've attended multiple EYBL tournaments in Hampton, VA. I even talked to Wade at one, and Calipari used to ask me yearly "How ya doing LSU!!!". I've related several stories on this board over the years.
EVERY SINGLE AAU/EYBL coach I got to know told me the same thing:
EVERY ONE of these players and their families are getting paid HANDSOMELY. And DUKE is the worst.
Keep in mind this was YEARS before NIL was a thing.
