Bermuda Plugs

Where can I find bermuda plugs, to start the transition from centipede lawn to bermuda? Would these plugs eventually take over the centipede lawn? I really don't want to do rip all the centipede out and sod. I am fine with a slow transition to bermuda if there is such a thing. Location is south, La.

I mentioned these in another thread yesterday: Bermini Bermuda Plugs from Hancock
I'm going to start with 224 and see what happens.
I emailed these loose instructions to myself yesterday:
Glyphosate lawn.
10 days later scalp and bag.
Glyphosate again.
Scalp and bag if needed, Rake debris up
Add manure and a bit of sand + RGS, starter fert, and Air8 (optional)
Plant plugs
Water and fert, water and fert,
14-21 days after planting - Mow/water/fert, mow/water/fert, ...

Yes.
My dad laid centipede sod in 2017. There was small patches of celebration bermuda in the sod. Around 2021 he quit fighting it and let it take over. His yard is now 90% celebration bermuda. Whenever I visit I would fill a couple of buckets with plugs using my pro plugger. 2 years later my backyard is mostly celebration and front yard is about 50%. It seems like it takes longer for the bermuda to take over st aug than it does for centipede.

They're not cheap. I'd get a pallet of whatever bermuda you want, establish it, then spread plugs around from that.

If you wanted to go a slightly less involved route,
You can scalp and bag the centipede, plant the plugs, and continue cutting low all year once the plugs are stable in their new environment.
I would fertilize heavily with straight Nitrogen all summer long, which the bermuda will love and the centipede will hate.

You could probably get a pallet of hybrid bermuda and a pro plugger for what that would cost. Establish the sod then plug from it

Yeah I think so. You'd get a hell of a lot more coverage than with the plugs. If you checkerboard it I bet it'd fill in by the end of summer.

I was thinking about the same thing, it looks like delta sod in Jefferson carries the Bermudea Tifway 419. Not sure if that is a good variety. Anyone ever used Tifway 419?

TifTuf is more superior than Tifway 419 in terms of aggressiveness, density, drought/pests/shade tolerant. Tifway has the advantage (in my opinion) in appearance as it is a shade darker.
If you are plugging or checker-boarding, I’d go with TifTuf.

Once the Bermuda starts taking off you can spray the centipede with quinclorac to help the process.

Even though Bermudas are aggressive, if you don’t have all of your lawn dead before you plug, you will end up with a mix.
Zoysia is much more capable of crowding them out because it grows thick. Slower to send out runners, though.
