Law Baws: firm, in-house or DA's office fresh out of school?

Gonna be a baby lawyer soon, and have a few options I'm considering. Wondering what y'all think is best...
1. Taking a job with the firm I'm interning with, which is a small, but reputable firm mentored by one of the best business lawyers in town. Probably work 5 years then move back home and start my own firm. Starting salary is ~120k
2. Going back home and working for the DA's office for a few years, learning how to litigate and then partnering with my childhood buddy who clears a mil/year by himself every year for the last 5 years. He suggests I work for the DA for two years then come on with him. Straight parter status. Problem is: he's a family lawyer and I'm not sure I really want to do family law. Starting salary 100k as a DA, then 200 + whatever I bring in forever.
3. Get on with energy company as in-house counsel under a soon to be retiree who's head of their big torts/personal injury division. Shadow her for a few years and then bust a move and take over the dept when she retires in 7-10 years. Starting at about 130 w/bonus, 8% 401k match. Dept. head makes 300 w/ bonus.

1 and 3 are fine options, but what type of law do you want to do?

Might want to pass the bar first before you start trying to take over other people’s jobs. But that’s just me.

Chase ambulances. Make obnoxious TV commercials.

Whatever kind of law SFP does. He makes bank and has enough free time to harass the politards all day.

Why do babies need lawyers?

I'm not sure, really. I do want to litigate, though. I'm somewhat energy focused at the moment because I worked in oil and gas before school, but I'm open to being lured in by another area of law.

if Jasmine Crockett can pass the bar, I'm pretty sure I can, too.

That’s exactly the sort of attitude people who fail the bar exam have. They get cocky, slack off, and fail. Better get your mind right now before you end up on the fail list.

These are three radically different positions, so it depends on what you want to do.
If you are set on going back home, I’d go now and start getting to know the judges/other lawyers. You would be in a much better position to open your own firm after five years of working in the same area, rather than trying to move and open a firm in a place you haven’t lived in 5+ years.
You will get the most litigation experience as a DA.

I'd be skeptical of that. I'm not aware of any counties in the state starting misdemeanor prosecutors at six figures.

If your goal is to move back home and open your own shop, do whatever will best teach you how to run a business (Probably #1 since it's a small form).
Plenty of solo practitioners fail, despite being brilliant lawyers, because they are terrible business men. That alone causes more firm closures than anything else. By far.

i'm not discounting it by any means. my point is, you don't have to be a genius to pass. I don't mind putting in the work. I didn't come this far to fail because of a lack of effort.
