I'm sorry, but an LSU chemical engineering degree is way more impressive than Harvard Poly Sci.
Just saying.
Just saying.

I’ve always thought of “elite” universities as the name brand item.
At the end of the day, outside of the name they aren’t really that special

I may disagree on his metrics for intelligent, but no, we don't want stupid people running things.

i've known about 5-10 Ivy League grads and two MITs. all of them are genuinely impressive people. i know that during the rise of DEI there were your David Hoggs and the dude that wrote BLM on repeat that got in, but most everybody else i've known were merited.
I actually know 2 Tulane and Dartmouth MDs that became stay at home moms and they're both brilliant.
I'm not opposed to Credentialism to a degree but I want them to actually be impressive people.
I think Tucker Carlson said "i'm not against eliteism. I'm an elitist. I just want impressive elites and these people aren't impressive."

Am I correct that MIT could still be an elite university since numbers go woke way less than a Poli science essay?
Posted on 3/17/25 at 11:55 am to Privateer 2007
I'd say most engineering degrees more weight. I'm a ChemE so I'm biased. PoliSci is a joke and honestly most degrees should just be apprenticeship or at community college. The advanced STEM degrees you need 4 yrs because you gotta root out the idiots.

But is Howard that much worse than Harvard now a days since DEI took over?

Yes. Take any and all quotas & DEI nonsense that Harvard may have done, multiply it tenfold and apply it to a group of applicants that isn't nearly as impressive.
If the point you were trying to make is that Harvard (and other schools) are largely living on past performance and they shouldn't be looked at in awe, then I agree with you. But it will still produce a MUCH better product than Howard given similar fields.

the anti elitism is running amok.
Most agree that the Ivys have been a hotbed of radicalism for a while, but that doesnt diminish they are still elite schools.
Instead of bashing them, take them over.
Dont turn into the Maples, be the Oaks.
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
They say, "The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light"
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw

To get into these schools you have to have a certain number of zeros in your bank account, or your last name has to be Kennedy. A lot of these folks couldn't get into UW-Madison if they didn't have connections/money.

Well the problem with and the easily identifiable trend of the past 40 to 50 years is that universities are far more about indoctrination than they are education
and at the elitist institutions it's not that they teach something different it's just nerds have trouble socializing and when indoctrination is the most important thing nerds / auties are easily swayed
Rice is unrecognizable to me vs the brief time I was on campus. Honestly the ideology at Rice was maybe closer to libertarianism as a political ideology than anything else it was definitely not liberal not progressive wasn't conservative except they respected math , and didn't consider it racist.
Still taught the classics in English lit. Still presented Western democracy as the preferred Govt system

Thumbs up purely on the RUSH reference. That's quality

The Hunter Biden laptop scandal revealed emails to Hunter Biden, from Tucker Carlson, begging for Hunter's help in getting Tucker's son into Georgetown (he ultimately didn't get accepted).

Any chemical engineering degree from any accredited school is, it’s a whole other level of intelligence required that’s based not only in theory but in practice.

I’ll take a West Point or Annapolis grad over Harvard

Walz went to lowest ranked college in the entire state of Nebraska. It’s basically a community college. Kamala’s education was likely pure DEI.
There’s a big gap and a lot in between educationally those two and “elite universities.”
