Why does the LSU administration think increased NIL will help MBB?

Do they really think top end talent wants to come to BR and play for McMahon? The guy is the laughing stock of the SEC. No top end transfer is going to hedge his potential future at a program that is th8s bad.

Because strong arse offers are the only thing that made LSU any good in the recent past.

They don’t want to admit they were wrong.

They do not. But Woodward isnt going to can his own hire unless made to do so.

It's pretty evident this is a hail Mary to save the McMahon hire.
They are hoping nil can get him over the hump from being dead last to almost mediocre. If they can get the team on "next four out" territory it'll be some success so they can give him the 5th year.

It may help for future coaches but it seems like a cop out to not buy him out for another year more than anything tbh

It’s going to be more mid major level guards and tweeners. We all already know that. They will come here from their current schools for more money. No sec transfers are walking through the door.

Money isn’t going to make kids want to come play in an empty arena. At least I wouldn’t think so.
But then again, it’s a new era.

My honest guess is that they don't care until the new arena is built.

If BK makes the playoffs next year, I do think that puts Matt McMahon squarely on the hot seat for the 25-26 season. The two jobs are very much linked. Money is finite. If BK has a down year in 2025 when expectations are sky high, then they will need to start loading the money canon for his buyout, likely following the 2026 season. If BK does well next year, makes the playoff and wins a game or two, he buys himself another two seasons at least. So in that case the buyout money can go towards McMahon. They’re not going to buyout a basketball and football coach in the same calendar year. Just won’t happen.
